Behavior Analyst (BCBA)

A Gem of Joy ABA . Behavior Analysts and Senior Behavior Analysts are full-time, salaried employees. Analysts report to the Clinical Director and/or VP of Clinical Operations, and manage a caseload of learners, families, and Behavior Technicians. They serve as the primary contact for families, RBTs, and other providers related to their caseload, uphold A Gem of Joy ABA Quality Standards, and implement best practices in Applied Behavior Analysis. Typical working hours are Monday–Friday from 9am–6pm when in-home services are offered; occasional hours outside this window may be required.

Responsibilities

Serve as the primary point of contact between learners/families on your caseload and A Gem of Joy ABA (except when escalation to the Clinical Director is required).

Complete initial and ongoing assessments of learner skills and challenging behaviors.

Assess parent/caregiver skills and proficiency implementing ABA strategies.

Use assessment results and family priorities to create individualized, medically necessary goals for each learner.

Maintain the minimum required billable hours per month and ensure productivity targets are met.

Review data regularly and update the learner’s treatment plan to ensure progress.

Report on treatment outcomes, progress on goals, and readiness for discharge from services.

Provide training and support to BTs, RBTs, and caregivers on ABA strategies and the learner’s treatment plan, collecting data on procedural integrity.

Supervise RBTs, ensuring competency, training, and supervision requirements are met; act as Responsible Supervisor where applicable.

Develop and implement Success Plans for RBTs, BCaBAs, and/or Behavior Analysts in Training under supervision.

Complete all necessary documentation timely, including assessments, progress reports, timesheets, session notes, and caregiver signatures where applicable.

Qualifications

Education : Master’s degree or higher in education, psychology, Applied Behavior Analysis, or a related field.

Certification : Current, active BCBA or BCBA-D certification; current, active license to practice ABA in Maryland (Maryland LBA); completion of 8-hour supervision training (eligibility to serve as RBT Supervisor or RBT Requirements Coordinator).

Work Experience : Minimum of 3 years working with individuals with ASD or I/DD; experience completing behavior analytic assessments for skill acquisition and behavior reduction; experience using assessment results to create individualized treatment plans.

Knowledge and Skills : Knowledge of CPT codes for ABA services; excellent written and verbal communication; experience with assessment tools for challenging behavior and adaptive functioning; supervisory skills; excellent organizational and interpersonal skills; proficiency with Microsoft 365 (preferred).
