We are currently seeking a Director of Quality in Knoxville, TN. The Director of Quality ensures the culture, systems, and capabilities exist to deliver outstanding results in food safety, quality, and regulatory compliance across all Reily Foods Company manufacturing facilities and product categories. This role provides strategic oversight while supporting operational execution, customer satisfaction, and regulatory excellence. This critical role is responsible for corporate-wide quality and food safety leadership, requiring regular manufacturing site visits primarily to New Orleans and Boston. Flexibility for approximately 30% travel and ability to work outside normal business hours may be required. Responsibilities
Lead corporate Quality & Food Safety programs, ensuring compliance with FDA, FSMA, HACCP, GFSI (BRC), and customer standards. Direct multi-site certification programs and deliver excellent audit scores. Develop and enforce policies, procedures, and preventive controls across sites. Oversee complaint reduction, OOS resolution, and product quality improvements using root cause tools and SPC. Monitor regulatory and industry changes and ensure proactive training and program updates. Serve as company liaison with regulatory agencies, auditors, and major customer quality teams. Partner with Operations, R&D, Supply Chain, and Commercial teams to embed quality into product development, sourcing, and operations. Provide quality and regulatory guidance on new product development and cost reduction initiatives. Lead crisis management planning and recall/traceability systems. Build and develop a strong corporate quality team and site QA leaders. Establish a culture of accountability, prevention, and continuous improvement. Provide training and technical support to ensure all employees deliver food-safe, high-quality products. Manage and maintain specifications in TraceGains and other systems. Analyze customer feedback and complaints, ensuring timely corrective action. Provide technical support to Marketing, Sales, and R&D. Develop and manage the corporate quality budget. Establish SMART metrics for quality and food safety performance; monitor scorecards and drive improvement. Identify and implement cost savings initiatives related to quality systems and processes. Qualifications
10+ years progressive quality leadership in food or beverage manufacturing. Multi-site quality leadership experience strongly preferred. Strong knowledge of food safety regulations, auditing standards, and compliance systems. Experience leading regulatory inspections and third-party certifications. Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills. Demonstrated ability to build, train, and mentor high-performing teams. Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, Engineering, or related field required; Master’s preferred. HACCP, PCQI, and BRC certification. Six Sigma Green Belt or higher preferred.
