As part of the Advanced Facilities team, you’ll work on some of the most advanced construction projects across the country, growing your career with our diverse team of professionals. Role Summary The General Superintendent will develop and execute the project plan and oversee all aspects of assigned projects with significant complexity. This position will be responsible for managing the team, planning all construction sequencing and meeting project goals, in support of JE Dunn’s strategy, vision and values. Key Role Responsibilities - Core
Leads all aspects of the company’s safety culture and creates awareness by demonstrating commitment to an injury-free environment through actions and mentoring. Investigates safety incidents and retrains staff as needed. Provides management of subcontractors and organization of the overall job and workflow. Manages and oversees company staff, subcontractors, suppliers and programs such as Safety, Quality and EEO for a small project or a major portion of a larger project. Develops work plans for subcontractors and self-performed work. Coordinates and manages the care, custody and control of the project site. Leads meetings including daily standup and weekly trade meetings; attends progress and project OAC meetings. Creates, manages, changes and implements the project schedule in coordination with the Project Manager. Tracks and monitors project budget and costs using the project management system and data from the project manager. Communicates key project information to owners, design team, governing authorities, subcontractors, suppliers and other departments. Maintains project documentation, updates drawings, logs and inspection notebooks; records unit cost information for weekly reports and completes daily reports and logs. Evaluates progress on self-perform work and makes adjustments as needed. Manages material and equipment needs for the project. Supports MOC (Material and Other Costs) and DLSC (Dunn Logistics Service Center) procurement and approval processes. Assists in selecting formwork, tools and equipment for self-perform operations. Manages timecard approval to ensure accurate hours and cost codes. Ensures quality compliance through specifications, QA/QC and outside resources. Supports project closeouts by supervising pre-punch activities and coordinating with owner, architect and authorities. Gains understanding of the project pursuit process and methodology. Collaborates with field leadership to establish field staffing and identify schedule and cost impacts of changes; participates in negotiations with owner and architect for project changes. Participates in project review meetings and buy-out meetings with subcontractors and vendors. Understands and applies owner and subcontractor contracts; identifies and recruits top talent; promotes diversity and inclusion within JE Dunn. Key Role Responsibilities - Additional Core
Manages large, complex stand-alone and multi-project initiatives from planning to completion. Provides management/oversight of multiple projects and project teams. Leads and executes company and regional strategic initiatives; contributes to development of training content and internal subject matter experts. Delivers leadership messages effectively to internal and external audiences. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Ability to perform work accurately, completely and on time. Strong verbal and written communication skills (Advanced). Effective presentation abilities (Advanced). Proficiency in MS Office and project management software (Intermediate). Fundamentals of construction management and knowledge of project processes and trades (Advanced). Ability to build relationships across teams and with external partners. Knowledge of self-perform and labor productivity; budgeting and profitability management; Lean principles (various levels). Understanding of scheduling, layout, crane flagging and rigging; cost management and productivity metrics (various levels). Education
Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering or related field (Preferred); equivalent relevant experience considered. Experience
12+ years construction experience. 10+ years field supervision experience. Experience leading Lean principles on projects (Preferred). Working Environment
