Fleet Maintenance Manager

Kerns Trucking, Inc. is a family-owned dump trucking company with 92 years in business, 150 employees, and 135 trucks serving customers across the Carolina's. Headquartered in Blacksburg, SC, with three satellite operations, we take pride in delivering safe, reliable equipment to keep our customers moving.
We are seeking an experienced
Fleet Maintenance Manager —preferably with Kenworth and Peterbilt expertise—who will take ownership of our maintenance program and drive improvements. This role is key to ensuring our fleet operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all regulations. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, hands-on, and committed to leading a top-notch maintenance team. Key Responsibilities: Oversee all maintenance activities for our 135-unit fleet
Lead, motivate, and manage a team of 8 diesel technicians across multiple shifts
Ensure compliance with DOT regulations and maintenance best practices
Coordinate with drivers on repairs and arrange roadside assistance as needed
Maintain a well-stocked parts inventory and negotiate pricing with vendors
Track service history in fleet maintenance software and produce reports as needed
Work closely with dispatchers to manage truck downtime for repairs
Support maintenance needs at our satellite operations
Qualifications: Proven truck fleet maintenance experience

Strong leadership and team management skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, email, and fleet maintenance software
Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
Excellent organization, communication, and vendor negotiation abilities
