This includes reviewing data from multiple sources to assess employee performance, setting forth learning paths for employees and partnering with managers to coach employees and influence performance. Essential Duties And Responsibilities Note: The essential duties and primary accountabilities below are intended to describe the general content of and requirements of this position and are not intended to be an exhaustive statement of duties. Partners with Superintendents, Production Teams, and the DOT Manager to provide coaching, skills development, and performance improvement for drivers assigned to the division(s). Utilizes telematics for real time tracking, dash cam review, hours of service logging and analytic dashboard management to review and assess driver routines, safety risks and violations. Identifies skill gaps and develops driver training plans. Draws from deep knowledge and understanding of FMCSA, DOT regulations, and Sunland's internal DOT guidelines to provide guidance on equipment, processes and guidelines to ensure operations are compliant and risk adverse. Delivers defensive driving courses to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and internal safety standards. Performs regular gate inspections to audit fleet and personnel elements, ensure compliance with DOT regulations as well as increase driver awareness and knowledge. Provides key support and may act as a point of contact for DOT audits, citations, incident reviews and investigations to promote optimal outcomes. Tracks and maintains comprehensive documentation of training and coaching to assess organizational training efforts and effectiveness. Delivers train the trainer sessions for gate inspections to promote standardization and continuity of knowledge and practice. Marginal Or Additional Functions
Performs other duties as assigned or apparent. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBLITIES This position has no supervisory responsibilities but acts as a resource and guides the behaviors and actions of others as described above. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
A deep knowledge and understanding of DOT/FMCSA regulations (hours of service, driver qualifications, drug and alcohol testing, CSA scores, IFTA and IRP) Five or more years as a driver in trucking or transportation is required. One to two years' experience in a supervisory and compliance role is also required. A background in oversize and heavy weight logistics is necessary A valid Class A CDL with a clean driving record is required. A Smith System Instructor certification preferred or willingness to obtain. Strong communication, coaching, and documentation skills; confident working in both field and classroom settings. Extensive knowledge of and experience with Electronic Logging Device (ELD) systems e.g., SamSara or similar telematics and fleet monitoring systems. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Strong multitasking and time management skills to operate in a fast-paced environment. Must possess good communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work with employees at all levels. Must have a working knowledge of office software programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. TRAVEL May include travel to support multi-state operations for open enrollment, employee education, and M&A activity.
