Overview
The Director of Facilities Planning and Operations is responsible for the strategic and operational management of multiple healthcare facilities within the region. The position leads a team of managers and supervisors to maintain high standards for facility infrastructure and the physical environment, ensure safety and regulatory compliance, manage budgets and resources efficiently, and oversee construction and renovation projects. The role collaborates with the OSF HealthCare System Facilities Planning and Administration team to implement standards, policies, procedures, and strategies. This leadership role drives a culture of service and operational excellence and maintains healthcare environments conducive to delivering high-quality patient care and positive patient, visitor, and employee experiences. Responsibilities
Direct and develop multiple facilities teams (managers and supervisors) to uphold facility infrastructure and environment standards. Ensure safety and regulatory compliance across facilities; oversee inspections, audits, and corrective actions. Manage budgets and resources efficiently; monitor expenditures and optimize capital and operating plans. Oversee construction and renovation projects from planning through implementation and handoff. Collaborate with the System Facilities Planning and Administration team to implement standards, policies, and procedures. Think strategically, drive a service-oriented and performance-driven culture, and support high-quality patient care and positive experiences for patients, visitors, and staff. Qualifications
Required Qualifications Education:
Bachelor’s degree Experience:
5 years of facilities management or related experience for multiple facilities or health system Other Skills/Knowledge:
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; solid computer skills including Microsoft software; strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to design, implement, and manage programs for facilities management, preventive maintenance, infrastructure assessment, capital planning, energy management, accreditation and regulatory compliance; knowledge of NFPA, TJC, CMS, IDPH, OSHA, EPA, ADA and other codes and regulations; ability to perform facility surveys and building assessments; experience in developing and managing performance and quality measurement programs; ability to lead cross-functional teams through organizational changes; ability to manage multiple projects with approved schedules and stakeholder relations Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in an engineering discipline or MBA Certified Health Care Facility Manager (CHFM) from AHA or ASHE Knowledge of LEAN, Six Sigma or similar performance improvement systems Licensure/Certification CHFM certification from the American Hospital Association (AHA) or ASHE Equal Opportunity OSF HealthCare is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
