Director, Indirect Procurement - IT at Cardinal Health. Lead architect for enterprise-wide sourcing strategies across hardware, labor, and software categories, with oversight of approximately $800 million in annual spend. Partner with IT, Finance, Legal, and business leaders to align procurement with long-term business and digital transformation goals. The role requires strong expertise in complex software negotiations, licensing, contract structuring, and labor/outsourcing negotiations. It also oversees a broad portfolio including hardware, network infrastructure, telecommunications, and desktop technologies, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture and operational priorities. Responsibilities

Leadership Manages and mentors a team of sourcing professionals across multiple sub-categories Makes decisions that impact work processes, systems, organization, outcomes, and stakeholders Interacts with internal and external leaders, including senior management Builds cross-functional relationships to enable goal achievement and commitments Influences stakeholders in sensitive situations while maintaining positive relationships Manages prioritization and scope ambiguity in indirect procurement execution Supports development and management of indirect procurement’s organizational budget Attracts, retains and develops talent Transformation Drives process improvements and deploys new tools to improve sourcing efficiency and compliance Identifies and implements organizational changes to optimize team performance Collaborates with Cost Management to support cost savings initiatives Leads system, process and organizational changes across Indirect Procurement globally Supports mergers and acquisitions activities by leading integrational efforts for Indirect Procurement Category Strategy & Execution Develops and executes long-term sourcing strategies for hardware, labor, and software, including SaaS, on-prem, and cloud solutions Leads RFx processes, vendor evaluations, and contract negotiations with large vendors (e.g., Microsoft, Salesforce.com, Google) Optimizes supplier tiering and categorization to align with enterprise goals Maintains knowledge of market trends, supplier capabilities and innovations to support IT category strategies Stakeholder Engagement & IT Partnership Acts as strategic partner to IT, Enterprise Architecture, and Finance to ensure sourcing decisions support business needs Leads cross-functional sourcing teams and enterprise initiatives from strategy to implementation Develops functional strategy including diversity, sustainability, risk assessment, financial impact and business continuity Champions compliance with procurement policies and tools Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain, Finance and Accounting, Engineering or related fields; MBA a plus 12+ years of strategic sourcing and category management experience with a focus on software sourcing and negotiations Proven success managing large teams and complex spend portfolios Effective written and presentation communication skills Ability to manage risk and resolve conflicts with third parties through alignment of strategic interests Balance between lowest price/savings and long-term business value Strong business acumen, strategic vision, and leadership to influence executives and partners Deep understanding of procurement systems, contract law, and supplier performance management Experience in process improvement and organizational design/change Strong financial acumen and data-driven decision-making Experience internationally and aligning with global business leaders Experience with SAP Ariba and SAP ERP systems Knowledge of healthcare industry including pharmaceuticals and medical products distribution and/or healthcare providers Ability to maintain regular presence in Dublin, OH HQ What is expected of you and others at this level Provides leadership to managers and experienced professional staff; may manage front line supervisors Manages an organizational budget Develops and implements policies and procedures to achieve organizational goals Assists in the development of functional strategy Decisions with extended impact on processes, outcomes, and customers Interacts with internal/external leaders, including senior management Influences others in sensitive situations while maintaining positive relationships Anticipated salary range
