Associate Director, Business Development — Irvine, California, United States About the Role

As the Associate Director, Business Development, you will be a results-driven individual who will play an integral role in searching for new pipeline programs in eye care, dermatology, and other disease areas. You will work closely with cross-functional partners and executive team members to drive partnerships that expand our pipeline. You will also lead territorial out-licensing and other partnership opportunities for the Company’s existing programs. Key Responsibilities

Identify, evaluate and execute partnership opportunities to augment the company’s product development pipeline, including due diligence on potential external pharmaceutical asset targets (from pre-clinical to commercial). Collaborate with scientific, clinical, regulatory, manufacturing, intellectual property and commercial teams. Network at conferences and monitor industry developments (M&A, financing events, and strategic partnerships) to identify opportunities; interface with executive management and consultants to diligence opportunities and build scientific and business cases for senior management. Negotiate and close deals when there is consensus to pursue opportunities. Qualifications / Factors for Success

Bachelor’s degree in life science, business, finance, or related field; MBA or advanced life sciences degree preferred. 12 years of relevant experience, including at least 4 years in pharmaceutical/biotech business development, licensing, or corporate development, or equivalent experience in a consulting firm or investment bank focused on pharma/biotech; experience in eyecare is preferred. Master’s degree can replace two years of experience. Strong ability to evaluate pharma/biotech assets based on unmet medical needs, market potential, and asset/company value; experience working with internal and external subject matter experts as needed. Lead or support due diligence for acquisitions, partnerships, and investments; clinical/scientific analysis, financial analysis, and market assessment. Ability to interpret preclinical/clinical data to inform strategy and asset-specific diligence. Proficiency in valuation analyses and financial modeling to assess strategic and financial impact of transactions and partnerships. Excellent written and verbal communication; strong presentation skills for senior executives. Innovative mindset; proactive, self-starter with strong organizational and time-management skills. Understanding of drug development and lifecycle management; ability to cultivate relationships with partners and key opinion leaders. Strong leadership potential and ability to prioritize work with a sense of urgency and attention to detail. A Few Other Details Worth Mentioning

The expected base pay range is $161,200 - $225,800 plus bonus, stock equity, and comprehensive benefits. Base pay is a target range; actual pay will reflect skills, experience and education.
