Public Safety Coordinator

in the

Security Department . The Public Safety Coordinator provides unarmed uniformed safety, security and customer-centered services to all patients, visitors, and staff of the Medical Center. Essential Job Functions

Greet & Verify: Greet incoming patients and visitors to the medical center and verify reason for visit; validate proper identification of incoming patients, visitors and staff; provide accurate directions to patients and visitors to ensure they reach their destination within the medical center. Security Credentialing: Enter visitor information into the visitor management system and issue visitor badges to individuals who have been properly validated; prohibit access to individuals that have been restricted due to security-related events or patient request; collect and scan out visitor badges when visitors exit to maintain an accurate visitation log/count. Patrol: Conduct foot patrols in assigned areas, verify tour access points and report identified safety and security-related risk/issues; ensure areas are properly locked and secured during patrols. Security Response & Investigations: Provide immediate response to life safety or security-related emergencies and drills; respond to service calls in a timely manner; provide security escort services when requested; assist Public Safety Officers by providing information needed to complete accurate and detailed reports; assist with investigations of criminal and/or suspicious occurrences; attend court or other legal proceedings as required. General Duties: Perform other duties as assigned; communicate written and orally; exercise discretion regarding confidential matters; follow written and/or verbal instructions; handle sensitive matters with tact and discretion; handle stressful situations; maintain a high level of alertness; perform multiple tasks simultaneously; react effectively during conflicts and emergencies; work with frequent interruptions and with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds. Required Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required. A Permanent Employee Registration Card (PERC), as defined in Illinois law, issued within 90 days of employment. Preferred Qualifications

Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice or related field. Experience in security or law enforcement. 1-2 years of job-related experience in public safety and/or security roles. Strong customer service background. Licensures/Certificates

Valid Driver’s License preferred. Illinois Permanent Employee Registration Card (PERC) required within 90 days of employment. Position Details

UChicago Medicine is committed to transparency in compensation and benefits. The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position. The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed annually. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience, and organizational considerations such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
