Overview
Environmental Permitting & Planning Department Manager - Southeast oversees the Southeast Area Environmental Planning and Permitting (EPP) Department, serving Federal, State and Local governments as well as private clients. The department includes staff located throughout the southeastern United States and is responsible for a full range of natural resources studies required for federal and state permits and for developing federal and state environmental documents (including NEPA Environmental Assessments and Environmental Impact Statements). The Southeast Area EPP Department Manager is expected to drive revenue growth, optimize staff utilization without compromising quality, safety or performance, manage the department’s Profit and Loss, and mentor and grow staff. The candidate should demonstrate an excellent work ethic, strong interpersonal skills, and a professional attitude. Responsibilities
Provides leadership and direction through managers and professional staff and leads efforts to grow company technical expertise. Responsible for the financial performance of the department. Review proposals for technical and financial content. Develops business plans and tracks/manages finances. Advises regional business managers on growth, staff recruitment and retention, and technical excellence strategies. Recruits and helps retain staff at all levels. Maintains technical roles as project manager, lead verifier, or technical lead as appropriate. Works closely with Project Delivery Leads to drive project financial performance and client satisfaction. Leads and supports business development opportunities. Anticipates and solves operational problems, sets objectives and requirements, organizes programs/projects, and develops standards for diverse natural resource activities. Drives execution of tactical business plans with direction from a regional leader for growth and profitability; implements global strategy and programs. Drives regional business development, client management for the business line, and manages resources; contributes to strategic/operating plans. Directs the work of associates performing different tasks under the same field. Applies in-depth knowledge of the field with strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills. Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
BA/BS in Environmental Sciences or related field plus 10 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience/education, including 2 years of leadership. Valid Driver’s License and ability to pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records review. US Citizenship required due to the nature of work. Preferred Qualifications
MA or MS in Environmental Sciences and/or MBA. 15+ years of experience in Natural Resource Investigations related to state and federal permitting in the Southeastern United States. Ability to independently manage interdisciplinary teams delivering complex environmental documents. Demonstrated understanding of project delivery requirements, creativity, foresight, and collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team to meet project goals and deliver high-quality technical work. Experience managing technical staff and in fiscal management and reporting for complex projects or cost centers. Additional Information
