Come and belong…join our team of passionate service leaders! Concordia University is needing a Director of LCMS Placement and Education: Assistant, Associate, or Professor of Education who wants to be a part of this mission. The main campus (and this role) is located in Seward, Nebraska.
Position Purpose
The purpose of this position is to direct the placement of candidates for LCMS church work careers, direct colloquy processes, provide leadership for Lutheran Teacher Diploma candidates, teach at the undergraduate level, and assist in the development and execution of strategic initiatives for the College of Education, Health and Human Sciences and the Education Department at the University. Responsibilities
Direct the designation and first call processes for all LCMS church work graduates, colloquy candidates, and alumni. Interview all church work placement candidates and instruct them in the placement processes and protocol. Lead processes for compiling, organizing, storing, and distributing professional credential files for all undergraduate candidates in LCMS church work programs (excluding pre-seminary and pre-deaconess). Direct colloquy processes. Collaborate with faculty and administration to evaluate and approve eligible church work candidates for LCMS placement. Regularly prepare and present information to faculty, administration, candidates, and external stakeholders regarding processes and statistics, including an annual report of placement of LCMS church work graduates. Provide collaboration and leadership among placement directors from other CUS institutions. Oversee the submission of an interim approval list of LCMS candidates to the Council of Presidents on a regular basis. Teach one undergraduate Education class per semester, based on the needs of the department and the qualifications of the applicant. Remain current in content areas of teaching responsibilities. Develop and facilitate leadership of the Lutheran Teacher Diploma candidate community. Lead the interview and follow-up processes for Lutheran Teacher Diploma candidates throughout the program. Represent the University at designated LCMS meetings (synod, districts, Concordia University System). Work toward innovation to streamline placement processes. Engage in both College of Education, Health and Human Sciences and Education department planning, assessment, curriculum development, student recruitment and activities. Support the growth of the College of Education, Health and Human Sciences and department through innovation and leadership. Demonstrate a willingness to enthusiastically embrace the mission and vision of Concordia University, Nebraska. Other general faculty duties as assigned. Qualifications
Ph.D. or terminal degree in related field preferred. Candidates who have earned a master’s degree and who agree to pursue a terminal degree are welcome to apply. Evidence of excellence in teaching in Lutheran schools or universities. Desire to develop professional relationships with students in which the faculty member is seen as an instructor, mentor, and advisor. Active member of Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS) congregation. Lutheran Teacher Diploma Knowledge of LCMS call and placement processes. Proficiency in use of Microsoft, other applications, and social media. Databases, spreadsheets, and word processing required. Special Position Requirements
