Overview
Director, Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) at Texas State Technical College (TSTC). The Director of Environmental Health and Safety is responsible for identifying and effectively managing risks related to physical, procedural, and behavior-based hazards to people, property, and the environment. This position provides technical guidance, administrative direction, and interpretation of regulations and policies issued by federal, state, and other agencies. The Director leads all aspects of environmental health and safety and contributes to strategic planning and decision-making related to the College's physical and occupational environment. Responsibilities

Safety Program: Responsible for implementing the state-wide Safety Program. Safety Training: Conduct training needs assessments, direct training plans and oversee the delivery of training statewide. Safety Culture: Expand the reach of the safety message; manage the quarterly statewide Safety Committee meeting, the Annual Safety Fair, the quarterly Safety Newsletter, and oversee campus safety committee meetings. Policies: Review and update safety-related policies and SOPs regularly. Inspections: Manage and oversee a state-wide comprehensive program of inspections to ensure regulatory compliance, adherence to TSTC policies and procedures, and safety best practices. Fire Drills: Manage a state-wide comprehensive program of fire drills to ensure regulatory compliance and readiness. Compliance: Coordinate consultative surveys, inspections, underwriting surveys, and audits; provide formal responses and track findings to completion. Occupational Accidents: Review accident reports, analyze data to identify trends and training needs. Committee Leadership: Chair the statewide Safety Committee and participate in other committees and working groups. Regulatory Liaison: Maintain regular contact with regulatory agencies and stay informed of developments and industry practices. Organization and Staffing: Design and establish an organizational structure and staffing to achieve program goals; recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate staff. Budget: Develop and manage annual budgets and perform cost and productivity analyses. Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred. Experience: Minimum of five years of progressive relevant experience in a safety position; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Certification: CSP or ASP preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA)
Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of environmental health and safety regulations, practices, and procedures. Leadership: Effective leadership to guide a team and foster a safety culture. Communication: Ability to convey technical information to diverse audiences. Problem Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to address hazards and implement solutions. Collaboration: Works with stakeholders across the organization to promote safety and compliance. Strategic Thinking: Ability to contribute to strategic planning and make data-driven decisions to enhance EHS. Other Information
