Cape Fox subsidiary Eagle Health, LLC is seeking candidates for a
Diagnostics Research Scientist
to support a government customer at Ft. Detrick. This position is contingent upon contract award. Incumbents are encouraged to apply! The salary range ( or hiring range ) for this exempt position has been established at:
$74,000 - $82,000 . The above salary range represents the company's good faith estimate of possible compensation at the time of posting. We offer benefits including holidays, paid time off, health, dental, and vision insurance, life and disability insurance, tuition reimbursement, and a 401K with company match. The job posting remains open until filled or withdrawn. Job Summary:
The employee will conduct research on current and emerging threats at BSL-2, BSL-3, and BSL-4 levels, supporting the BD and infectious disease program. Responsibilities include expertise in diagnostic assay development, biomarker support, small molecule toxin research, and organ-on-a-chip/organoid modeling for diagnostic applications. Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Design protocols and technologies to develop capabilities based on pathogen and host biomarker characterization, immune response analysis, toxin research, and diagnostics. This includes developing and overseeing laboratory experiments, some requiring BSL-3 or BSL-4 containment. Evaluate large datasets from biomarker studies, build bioinformatic pipelines using open-source languages (R, Python), and visualize data for reports and presentations. Develop and perform molecular and immunological assays, such as qRT-PCR and antibody-based detection methods. Communicate experimental data and laboratory findings to relevant points of contact, and coordinate with vendors for technical support and troubleshooting. Supervise technical staff supporting research programs, ensuring SOPs and workflows are followed, tracked, and documented. Serve as a mentor for BSL-2, BSL-3, and BSL-4 personnel as needed. Assist in preparing technical reports, SOPs, and manuscripts. Present research findings at scientific conferences, which may require travel. Share results in written and oral formats internally and publicly. Collaborate with USAMRIID leadership to author research proposals and solicit funding, and respond to government sponsor inquiries. Maintain BPRP enrollment as required by contract and regulations.
