Overview
Adjunct Faculty - Process Development is a part-time, online and/or hybrid position at MCPHS to develop and teach a new course in Biomanufacturing Process Development as part of a planned undergraduate-level certificate in Biomanufacturing. The course targets professionals with prior life sciences experience or related technical fields and aims to explore advanced strategies, technologies, and regulatory considerations that drive process optimization and scalability in modern biomanufacturing environments. The instructor will contribute deep subject matter expertise and current industry insight, supported by MCPHS leadership and industry collaborators, to align the course with evolving workforce needs. Working with a project manager and instructional designer, the instructor will help launch this new certificate program and may be invited to develop and teach additional courses in the sequence depending on interest and availability. Responsibilities
Work with the assigned course designer to develop content (assignments, presentations, readings, discussion boards, quizzes, exams) as needed. Develop and provide students with an approved syllabus that includes course objectives and learning outcomes, teaching methodology, attendance policies in line with MCPHS, texts and readings, assignments and deliverables, timelines, and evaluation criteria. Deliver course instruction using the University learning management system and digital tools. Post syllabus, assignments, and other materials in the learning management system and communicate with students. Advise and assist students through office hours or scheduled appointments via video conference, phone or email, and through other University-approved mechanisms. Provide service, including student mentoring, ongoing course development, and collaboration toward a new certificate in life sciences industry fundamentals. Maintain communication with the Program Director and Assistant Dean, identifying any students of concern and relaying student progress. Maintain a visible presence in the course as directed by the Program Director, including prompt responses to student emails and participation in interactive course elements as needed. Ensure the course meets the high-quality standards of other MCPHS online and on-campus courses. Identify tactics to improve the course based on feedback. Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor. Requirements
Required: Advanced degree in a related field Previous experience teaching and/or developing courses for undergraduate students in adult, part-time, or online programs Previous experience in the life sciences Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills A commitment to student success and the ability to engage and motivate students Ability to work independently and effectively interact with a wide array of parties at all levels Experience with a learning management system, such as Blackboard Experience with video-conferencing platforms, such as Zoom Apply:
