Overview
Position title: Stevenson Elective Courses Pre-six Lecturer Salary range: A reasonable estimate for an appointment to teach the standard five-credit course is $8,531 - $14,523 (based on salary points 1-19). Please see the UCSC Salary Scales and refer to the Non-senate Instructional (NSI) Unit 18 Pre-six Lecturer Academic Year scale. Instructional Workload Credit (IWC) valuation may vary and the course salary will be adjusted accordingly. Compensation for Summer Session courses may vary from courses taught during the academic year (see Summer Session Faculty and Lecturer Pay). Percent time: Variable, based on the course load assigned (one standard, five-credit course is 37.5%) Anticipated start: Appointments are contingent on the hiring unit's instructional need and the availability of funding. This recruitment is valid for initial appointments beginning in spring quarter 2025 through spring quarter 2026. Initial appointments made after this period must be made through other recruitments. Stevenson College at the University of California, Santa Cruz invites applications for an ongoing pool of lecturers who may be appointed to teach Stevenson's non-core/enhancement courses (which does not include the Stevenson's College 1 core course). Stevenson's enhancement courses explore the concept of Self and Society and emphasizes the goals of both self-understanding and active participation in one's community. Some of the enhancement courses that are more frequently offered are Stevenson 26- Navigating the Research University, Stevenson 10- Skills for College and Beyond, Stevenson 50A- Stevenson Alumni Careers in Law, and Stevenson 50B- Stevenson Alumni Careers in Science and Technology. A complete list of Stevenson's courses can be found in the UCSC Course Catalog. Applicants with any of the areas of expertise or qualifications are strongly encouraged to apply: Demonstrated record of working effectively with students, faculty, and staff from a wide range of social, cultural, and academic backgrounds. Skills in a research university setting. Basic qualifications
(required at the time the application is submitted) B.A./B.S. degree or higher (or equivalent foreign degree) and a minimum of two years of professional experience such as teaching, student advising, and/or educational programming. Teaching experience demonstrated by college-level teaching, TA experience, research presentations, and/or professional development training seminars.
