The Assistant Personal Training Manager is a leader of operational excellence at the club and upholds the quality of the Equinox experience, including education, programming, and coach development for the PT Department, reporting to the Personal Training Manager. The role is goal-oriented, results-driven, and focused on developing and managing a high-performing team while helping drive the business. Responsibilities

Business Leadership

Pipeline management including Equifit (complimentary assessments) and complimentary training session conversions, with follow-ups documented in the CRM system. Collaborate with Membership Advisors to articulate the PT value proposition and support PT sales takeovers. Perform session audits on complimentary and paid services; provide timely, constructive feedback. Support cohesive relationships with Operations by participating in the weekly PT/GM meeting. Forge meaningful relationships with key club leaders and identify partnership opportunities for PT initiatives. Assist with business performance by supporting the monthly action plan. Hold the team accountable for branded, quality member interactions (e.g., Fitness Specialist Hours, Special Events). Collaborate with the Personal Training Manager to plan and execute a monthly trainers’ forum. Champion PT service standards by engaging with members to solicit feedback and identify opportunities to deliver a distinctive member experience.

Operational Management

Maintain PT presentation standards including Bio Boards, Nametags, and Uniforms. Participate in performance management of coaches in partnership with the PTM, Club Management, and People & Culture. Oversee Equifit administration and communications through all stages of the process. Support onboarding for new coaches and related logistics. Demonstrate business acumen by identifying trends and insights to increase profitability. Support all operational SOPs including client outreach and staff accountability. Contribute to headcount planning through retention of current coaches and recruitment of prospective coaches.

Employee Development

Lead employees through the coach levels via education and promotion processes. Develop skills in fitness assessments, complimentary PT sessions, and results review conversations. Ensure compliance and delivery of programming via regular design reviews with each team member. Teach coaches Equifit/CPT closing using sales techniques; deliver in-club education to support development needs aligned with EFTI direction (in-club workshops). Lead onboarding quality and session fundamentals for new hires; conduct Ramper meetings to support business progression, programming, and delivery. Oversee promotions of trainers/coaches; identify and align on key talent to advance careers. Host or participate in weekly Coach X team meetings to discuss results, assessments, education, and culture; support Coach X candidate development.

Supporter Of Team Culture

Participate in recruitment and interviewing of prospective coaches; mentor ramping coaches. Support ongoing education opportunities to ensure high standards and quality programming.

Essential Functions

Other duties may be assigned to ensure proper department operations.

Qualifications

Position Requirements: Current national PT certification, CPR/AED, First Aid. Exercise Science or Sports Management degree preferred. Proven ability to drive revenue with a focus on attracting new clients and retention. Demonstrated ability to instruct and coach at a high level. Desire to grow into a future PT leader with interest in developing the PT business. Ability to hire and develop staff by creating accountability and purpose-driven goals. Collaborative leadership and strong desire to interact with members, clients, and staff. Leadership experience in an educational, fitness, or management setting (one year minimum preferred). Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong time management and prioritization skills. Enthusiastic, passionate, and knowledgeable about the fitness industry. Additional Information
