Senior Scientist - Nucleic Acid Delivery Biology Join Amgen’s mission of serving patients. Our work across Oncology, Inflammation, General Medicine, and Rare Disease aims to deliver innovative medicines that improve lives. The Senior Scientist will join the Genetic Medicines team in Thousand Oaks, CA, responsible for generating and implementing novel methods to deliver RNA-based therapies to previously unreachable cellular destinations across Amgen’s therapeutic areas. What You Will Do
Identify and implement new technologies to accelerate discovery at the leading edge of targeted delivery Generate and advance new approaches for deploying extrahepatic RNA therapeutics Collaborate closely with disease area, computational biology, and therapeutic development teams as a technical and intellectual expert Present research findings to cross-functional groups at internal and external meetings and publish in peer‑reviewed forums What We Expect of You
We seek an enthusiastic scientist with the following qualifications: Basic Qualifications
PhD OR PharmD OR MD (and relevant post-doctoral experience where applicable) Or Master’s degree and 3 years of relevant scientific experience Or Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of relevant scientific experience Preferred Qualifications
PhD or Master’s in Cell and Molecular Biology, Genomics, Genetics, Biochemistry, or related disciplines with 2+ years of relevant industry or post-doctoral experience Familiarity with oligonucleotide therapeutics or complex biologics Hands-on experience with molecular and cellular biology techniques In vivo pharmacology or drug delivery model development experience Experience in design, execution, and optimization of experiments to evaluate intracellular perturbations and systemic responses to nucleic acid therapeutic delivery Experimental design of biodistribution, tissue and cellular level trafficking and functional delivery studies Ability to independently plan experiments and collaborate with cross-functional partners to develop platform-specific structure-activity studies Proven track record of independent critical thinking, complex problem solving, and innovative research Excellent organizational and communication skills for presentations in team meetings and a flexible, team-oriented environment What You Can Expect From Us
