Overview Associate Director Environmental Health and Safety

As the Environmental, Health and Safety, Associate Director, you will establish and foster strategic partnerships across all site teams to grow EH&S programs, including culture change, ISO management systems, compliance programs, corporate initiatives, and others to foster a safe, compliant, and sustainable work environment. You will ensure ISO 14001 and 45001 certification is maintained for the site and provide EHS support to several departments or areas of the facility. You will report to the Site Head.

How You Will Contribute

Manage the development, planning and implementation of strong environmental, health and safety programs in alignment with legal, regulatory, corporate requirements and industry best practice.

Support business growth via management of permit revisions and new regulatory requirements; assess new projects/processes for impact on same and health & safety of employees.

Manage and oversee the occupational health program on-site, including case management and appropriate interfaces with corporate, HR and legal.

Define, maintain, and manage the site emergency response procedures to assure preparedness and organized management of crisis situations.

Ensure continual improvement through implementation of the Takeda’s EHS management system, including facilitating risk assessments, setting targets, and monitoring performance.

Champion and support resource conservation initiatives in cooperation with facilities and engineering.

Lead and direct the EHS team at the site.

Develop a strong safety culture across the site, ensuring all incidents are reported, investigated and corrective actions implemented as appropriate.

Responsible for creating and managing the EHS budget and long-range plan.

Represent the site in Corporate EHS initiatives.

Complete mandatory training within required timeframe.

Minimum Requirements / Qualifications

B.S. Degree in Environmental, Safety or related field; M.S. preferred

Minimum of 7-10 years of experience. Must be highly conversant in EPA, OSHA, and DOT regulations. Experience with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 EHS Management Systems.

Knowledge of US EPA, OSHA, and DOT regulations; experience with ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001/ISO 45001 management systems.

Experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing or other high hazard industry (oil & gas, pulp & paper, chemical manufacturing, steel, etc.).

Ability to make decisions about complex EHS situations; strong leadership and team capability.

Ability to create and manage a budget; strong communication skills; ability to present to Senior Executives.

Action oriented, self-driven, and able to simplify complex issues and focus on priorities.

Willingness to speak up when needed and to lead by influence in a matrixed organization.

Demonstrated integrity, conflict management and change management skills.

U.S. Base Salary Range

$153,600.00 - $241,340.00

The actual salary offer depends on factors such as qualifications, experience, skills, education, licenses, and location.

U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/or long-term incentives, benefits including medical/dental/vision, 401(k) with company match, disability coverage, life insurance, tuition reimbursement, volunteer time off, holidays, and well-being benefits. Sick time accrual up to 80 hours per year; new hires up to 120 hours of paid vacation.
