Overview

Sr. Manager IT-Finance Systems (Remote) at UNFI. The role oversees a group of technical associates responsible for system processing in financial business systems, including planning, coordinating, and supervising design, development, and implementation of application systems, services, and processes. Leads maintenance and upgrades of existing systems and staff, and sets strategic direction for IT roadmaps and executive content. What it means to be part of the Information Technology Team: UNFI’s IT role supports transformation of business technology, including products like myUNFI, customer ordering platform, and warehouse management systems, contributing to the OneUNFI strategy through collaboration and cross-team solutions in areas such as network automation, infrastructure modernization, data services, analytics, and digital offerings.

Job Responsibilities

Technical Leadership: Lead architecture, design, development, and implementation of COTS and in-house applications delivering finance functionality, including Oracle Financials, Lawson Financials, Oracle EPM, and related systems. Ensure designs support scalability, quality, performance, security, maintainability, and architectural integrity in alignment with architecture strategies. Subject Matter Expert: Act as a finance systems SME for business drivers shaping application capabilities. Transformation & Strategy: Drive transformational change in finance technology, contribute to SAP ERP transition strategy, define plans and governance for legacy and Java applications, and evolve SDLC, people management, and business processes. Legacy Systems & Transformation: Lead strategy for critical legacy systems to ensure continued capability and availability throughout the transformation roadmap. Governance & Operations: Develop and monitor KPIs for service levels and continuous improvement; evaluate IT resource proposals; participate in annual budgeting for resources, maintenance contracts, and developer tools. Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with business area stakeholders and IT teams to determine technical direction and development lifecycle plans; manage vendor relationships for production support and project delivery with clear deliverables. Leadership & Coaching: Guide and coach managers and staff with diverse technical responsibilities; set goals, manage performance and development, and build mid- to long-term plans for training and skill advancement.

Job Requirements

Education / Certifications

Bachelor’s degree in management information systems, computer science, or related discipline. CPA certification preferred. Experience

8-10 years of IT experience; 3-5 years managing financial processing systems (Oracle Financials, Lawson Financials, Oracle EPM). 3-5 years leading a geographically distributed technical team (including offshore). Experience with varied legacy and modern programming languages, tools, and frameworks; change management and collaborative leadership; cloud-native architecture and cloud managed services preferred. Experience managing systems in a SOX-controlled environment. Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

Advanced knowledge of finance and accounting business practices and related software tools (Oracle Financials, Lawson Financials, SAP Financials). Ability to drive change and influence IT and business leaders; strong architectural knowledge across cloud/hybrid environments; proficiency with Microsoft Office; sound judgment for remote supervision when needed.

Work Environment

Remote Role: Work from a primary residence with occasional need to visit UNFI locations or offices for business reasons as directed.
