Coinbase
Software Engineer, Blockchain Platform (Blockchain Enablement)
Coinbase, Albany, New York, United States
Overview
Ready to be pushed beyond what you think you’re capable of? At Coinbase, our mission is to increase economic freedom in the world. It’s a massive, ambitious opportunity that demands the best of us, every day, as we build the emerging onchain platform — and with it, the future global financial system.
To achieve our mission, we’re seeking a very specific candidate. We want someone who is passionate about our mission and who believes in the power of crypto and blockchain technology to update the financial system. We want someone who is eager to leave their mark on the world, who relishes the pressure and privilege of working with high caliber colleagues, and who actively seeks feedback to keep leveling up. We want someone who will run towards, not away from, solving the company’s hardest problems.
Our work culture is intense and isn’t for everyone. If you want to build the future alongside others who excel in their disciplines and expect the same from you, there’s no better place to be.
While many roles at Coinbase are remote-first, we are not remote-only. In-person participation is required throughout the year. Team and company-wide offsites are held multiple times annually to foster collaboration, connection, and alignment. Attendance is expected and fully supported.
As part of the Blockchain Enablement team you will be working closely with the Crypto stack at Coinbase to integrate blockchain networks with internal services for day-1, non day-1 assets and USDC, expanding crypto primitives. We are a fast moving, highly engaged team with deep crypto knowledge with a culture that focuses on learning, sharing and delivering.
We are focused on building and maintaining integrations with existing and emerging blockchains, launching assets on these blockchains. We directly support Retail, Exchange, Institution, Base and Coinbase wallet by developing and owning the blockchain protocol level (i.e. EIP) functionality and indexer that is shared across many platforms. If you want to be part of the organization which is investigating, designing and launching assets, come apply!
What you’ll be doing (ie. job duties):
Enable and support high priority asset, including day 1 launches on any chain without incidents
Enable and maintain the crypto stack for all various blockchain protocols
USDC and other stable coin expansion
Find opportunities to scale and innovate internal crypto stack
Learn a lot about Crypto, share your learnings and have fun
Requirements
You have at least 2+ years of experience in software engineering
Familiarity with GoLang and/or Ruby is a plus
You’ve designed, built, scaled and maintained production services, and know how to compose a service oriented architecture
Experience with decomposing large software systems is a plus
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with other team members and stakeholders
You write high quality, well tested code to meet the needs of your customers
You have a strong attention to detail
You’re passionate about building an open financial system that brings the world together
Nice to have
Crypto background
Experience with Solana data, indexing, and/or scaling large systems
You have Crypto-forward experience, including familiarity with onchain activity such as interacting with Ethereum addresses, using ENS, and engaging with dApps or blockchain-based services
Job #: GPBE04US
Answers to crypto-related questions may be used to evaluate your onchain experience.
