Position Summary:
The Department of Surgery at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine invites applications for a full-time academic faculty position in Colorectal Surgery at the Assistant Professor level. This position is based at Johns Hopkins Hospital. The ideal candidate will join a multidisciplinary team dedicated to excellence in patient care, education, innovation, and research within one of the nation's leading academic health systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver comprehensive, evidence-based care in colorectal surgery, managing both benign and malignant diseases using open, laparoscopic, and robotic techniques.
Play an active role in surgical education, including bedside teaching, didactic instruction, and curriculum development for residents and fellows.
Engage in clinical or translational research initiatives with opportunities for cross-disciplinary collaboration.
Contribute to quality improvement and patient safety efforts within the division and across the Johns Hopkins Health System.
Participate in institutional and departmental service, including committee work and professional society involvement.
Qualifications:
M.D. or equivalent medical degree.
Completion of an ACGME-accredited general surgery residency and colorectal surgery fellowship.
Board certified or board eligible in General Surgery and Colorectal Surgery.
Eligible for medical licensure in Maryland.
A demonstrated commitment to academic surgery with evidence of scholarly activity, educational engagement, or quality improvement efforts.
Strong interpersonal skills, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to thrive in a complex academic environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
A track record of involvement in clinical research, surgical innovation, or health services improvement.
Prior academic presentations or publications in colorectal surgery.
