Overview

Department of Wildlife Management Temporary Faculty Pool. The Wildlife curriculum focuses on Applied Vertebrate Ecology. Our student learning is directed toward understanding the distribution and abundance of species with emphasis on mammals, birds, reptiles, and amphibians. Our classroom curriculum is augmented by Cal Poly Humboldt facilities including wildlife labs, Wildlife Museum, Wildlife Game Pens, The Coral Sea, our marine research vessel, Wildlife Refuge, and field experiences in the natural environment. The department offers both an undergraduate and graduate program in Wildlife. At Cal Poly Humboldt, our faculty is committed to teaching and being professionally active. Our curriculum blends basic science with specialized upper division courses and affords students experience in study design and participation in applied research. Minimum: Master’s degree in Wildlife or related field with demonstrated topical expertise; teaching effectiveness as evidenced by evaluation is preferred. Preference given to candidates who are ABD or have completed PhD. Education requirements: MS in Wildlife or related field with successful teaching experience and demonstrated topical expertise in the field of study; progression toward PhD and relevance of training are preferred. Dependent on qualifications and experience. Salary schedule information for the Lecturer – Academic Year Classification is available as follows: Lecturer A: 5,507 - 6,677; Lecturer B: 6,221 - 13,224; Lecturer C: 6,825 - 14,523. Cal Poly Humboldt sits on the traditional homelands of the Wiyot people in Arcata, CA. The campus is in proximity to several Native American tribes and communities. Humboldt has a strong Native American presence in programs such as ITEPP and INRSEP, with resources in Special Collections and materials in the Humboldt Room for tribally focused archive materials.
