Overview
Principal / Sr. Principal Modeling Simulation & Analysis Systems Engineer – R10206852. Northrop Grumman is seeking a Modeling, Simulation & Analysis (MS&A) Systems Engineer to join our Woodland Hills, CA team. The role involves collaborative research and analysis, model development, simulations, and algorithm implementation within an enterprise-wide digital transformation, using Model-based Engineering, DevSecOps, and Agile practices. The successful candidate will work with the Chief Mission Architect and peer MS&A Systems Engineers in small, collaborative teams, contributing to innovation, automation, and continuous learning.
Responsibilities
Design and develop complex models and simulations for inertial navigation systems to predict system performance and support design decisions.
Conduct detailed analysis of system performance using simulation tools to identify potential improvements and ensure system requirements are met.
Develop and implement algorithms for inertial navigation systems, ensuring they meet performance and reliability standards.
Analyze simulation data to validate models and algorithms and provide insights into system behavior under various conditions.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate models and simulations into larger system architectures and participate in system testing and validation.
Prepare technical documentation and reports to communicate findings, methodologies, and recommendations to stakeholders.
Stay updated with the latest advancements in modeling and simulation technologies and apply them to improve existing systems.
Work closely with software, hardware, and systems engineering teams to ensure alignment and integration of models with overall system design.
Basic Qualifications – Principal Modeling, Simulation & Analysis Systems Engineer
BS degree in a STEM discipline with 5 years of related professional/military Systems Engineering experience, OR an MS degree with 3 years, OR a Ph.D. with 1 year.
Proven experience in modeling, simulation, and analysis, preferably in the aerospace or defense industry.
Proficiency in MATLAB, Simulink, or similar tools; experience with C/C++ or Python is a plus.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data and develop actionable insights.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and contribute to cross-functional projects.
High attention to detail and a focus on quality and reliability.
Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and work in a fast-paced environment.
Active DoD Secret Clearance.
Ability to work onsite full-time in Woodland Hills, California.

Salary Primary Level Salary Range: $110,300.00 - $165,500.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $137,400.00 - $206,000.00
The salary range represents a general guideline; base salary offers consider the scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate experience, education, skills, and market conditions. Some positions may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and discretionary bonuses. Long Term Incentives may apply for Vice President or Director levels. Northrop Grumman offers health and life insurance, a savings plan, company-paid holidays, and PTO.
