The Senior Principal, Process Safety Engineer provides technical leadership and expertise in the development, implementation and maintenance of Lilly’s Globally Integrated Process Safety Management programs and business processes for the Lilly Medicine Foundry. Key Objectives/Deliverables

Identify opportunities to enhance process safety performance through influence on individual and group behaviors and culture. Provide technical expertise for process safety activities, including combustible dust, emergency management, risk assessments, facility siting, EPA RMP (Risk Management Program), etc. Serve as a technical expert for capital projects and facility/equipment design, including participation in hazard assessments for design and pre-commissioning. Develop and implement process safety programs, procedures and training. Influence, coach, and mentor cross-functional partners to ensure Process Safety Management programs are successfully executed. Lead and/or participate in governance, project and committee meetings. Participate in corporate and regulatory compliance audits and inspections; interact with regulators, auditors and customers during assessments; lead efforts to address gaps from audits/inspections. Own and/or coordinate Process Safety Management element reviews/site self-assessments. Support site event management by assessing process safety events, participating in investigations and completing all assigned actions. Support site change management by reviewing and leveling change requests and completing all assigned actions. Lead and/or participate on Corporate Teams to develop guidelines and tools that enhance Process Safety Management performance. Build external relationships and benchmark with outside Process Safety Management resources to maintain external focus. Basic Requirements

Minimum 6-8 years of safety or related experience supporting chemical processes/operations. Strong technical understanding of chemical unit process operations; knowledge of OSHA PSM and EPA RMP regulatory requirements; PSM/RMP elements and tools (Hazard Assessments, Facility Siting, etc.). Thorough understanding of change management and its impact to process safety. Knowledge of equipment reliability and mechanical integrity concepts/issues. Technical writing experience (e.g., procedure/program development and documentation). Strong leadership abilities and the ability to lead technical teams. Strong organizational and communication skills. Strong computer application skills. Demonstrated ability to work well with people and achieve results with others. Additional Preferences

Engineering license and/or professional safety certification(s). Experience integrating PSM issues into capital projects. Global process safety auditing experience. Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigative techniques, including RCA leadership. Education Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, occupational safety, or equivalent science degree is required. Other Information

Must complete Learning Plan– Foundry. Tasks require entering manufacturing and laboratory areas which require wearing appropriate PPE. Must carry a cell phone as position supports 24 hours/day manufacturing. Final location for this role will be Lebanon, IN site with flexibility to work from Indianapolis through 2025 and 2026.
