The Position Ashworth Leininger Group (ALG) seeks talented individuals for the position of Environmental Engineer or Scientist with experience as a consultant specializing in hazardous waste laws and regulations at the local, state, and federal level. ALG offers a dynamic and challenging consulting environment, where we provide resourceful and clever solutions to our clients’ complex environmental engineering and environmental compliance challenges. The successful candidate will be able to professionally manage projects and client relationships, and must have demonstrated technical expertise with at least five years of full-time work experience. The ideal candidate must demonstrate exceptional abilities in the following areas: Expertise with hazardous waste generator requirements; Experience with EPA ID applications and renewals; Preparation of biennial reporting for large quantity generators; Technical excellence in consulting with respect to permitting and compliance for commercial, industrial, and municipal facilities; Familiarity with the Department of Toxic Substances (DTSC) waste programs and the hazardous waste tracking system (HWTS); Navigating and reporting through RCRAinfo.epa.gov; Managing sensitive Certified Unified Program Agency (CUPA) and/or DTSC enforcement matters, while guiding clients in implementing their enforcement response and corrective actions; Development of hazardous materials inventories to assist with Tier II, EPCRA, and TSCA reporting; Reporting Hazardous Materials Business Plans (HMBPs) on the California Environmental Reporting System (CERS); Developing and conducting training on hazardous materials and hazardous waste regulations. In addition to the experience above, the ideal candidate will be an energetic, talented, and driven professional with excellent communications skills and a strong understanding of scientific and engineering principles. This is a client-focused position; candidates must demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills and resourceful decision making. In addition, candidates must possess the ability to work independently to research and propose solutions to complex technical and regulatory challenges, and engage efficiently with colleagues and clients. All ALG staff are expected to develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, which can be leveraged to expand our practice. Experience with database programs including Microsoft Excel is desired. Travel is required, which varies based on client and regulatory requirements. US work authorization is required.
