The Coast Community College District is a multi-college district that includes Coastline Community College, Golden West College, and Orange Coast College. The three colleges offer programs in transfer, general education, occupational/technical education, community services and student support services. Coastline, Golden West and Orange Coast enroll more than 60,000 students each year in more than 300 degree and certificate programs. Part-time/temporary faculty positions offer flexible hours and the opportunity to assist a diverse group of adult students in achieving their educational goals. These positions are as needed and applicants should live within commuting distance to Orange County. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES include facilitating instruction and maintaining professional standards for part-time faculty, with assignments that may include day, evening, weekend, online and/or off-campus classes. Provide quality instruction in accordance with established curriculum and course outlines. Create and maintain an environment which emphasizes teaching and learning and encourages discussion of ideas, interests and issues. Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics. Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter areas. Fulfill professional responsibilities of a part-time/temporary faculty member. Teach all scheduled classes. Maintain accurate records. Assignments may include day, evening, weekend, online and/or off-campus classes. Additional notes under the role include topics related to stage makeup, character development, assignments, and potential independent contractor work for costume/makeup design services, with day, evening and weekend class assignments as applicable.

Qualifications and Physical Demands Minimum Qualifications 1. Must meet one of the following qualifications under (a) through (d): a. Valid California Community College instructor credential, appropriate to the subject, per Education Code 87355 (issued prior to July 1, 1990); b. Master’s degree or Master of Fine Arts in drama/theater arts/performance; c. Bachelor’s degree in drama/theater/performance AND a Master’s degree in comparative literature, English, communication studies, speech, literature, or humanities; d. Or, possess a combination of education and experience at least equivalent to the above. Equivalency candidates must submit an Application for Equivalency with materials provided. Please see Additional Information for details. 2. Evidence of sensitivity to and ability to manage a classroom and teach diverse student populations. Desirable Qualifications 1. Recent community college teaching experience; 2. Expertise in the field of course to be taught; 3. Coursework and practical theater makeup/design experience; 4. Experience teaching college-level theater courses with makeup design/technical theater; 5. Involvement with professional theater/dance communities; 6. Commitment to quality teaching and student success; 7. Ability to design curricula for varied learning levels; 8. Ability to work with diverse populations; 9. Knowledge of instructional delivery technologies; 10. Innovative, ethical, enthusiastic, collaborative attitude. Conditions of Employment Employment is on a part-time, temporary basis and contingent upon verification of employment history, background checks, eligibility to work in the United States, and Board approval. Hours and effective date will be arranged with the supervisor. This is a continuous recruitment for an applicant pool to fill part-time, temporary assignments as needed.
