Overview
This Roadway Engineer position will report to the regional Roadway Practice Leader and will work on various types of roadway projects and help to develop innovative practical solutions to various roadway design challenges. Responsibilities
Designs a variety of roadway project types including urban streets, rural highways, bridge replacements, sidewalks and trails, complex interchanges, roundabouts and intersection improvements Collaborates with project team members, client representatives, review agencies to resolve a variety of complex problems Prepares and reviews technical reports, drawings, plans, specifications, and permits for projects Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents Prepares cost estimates for assigned projects Conducts project site visits, as needed Demonstrates strong attention to detail Demonstrates strong organizational and time management skills Works independently on multiple tasks without immediate supervision Builds and maintains excellent interpersonal relationships Demonstrates working knowledge of respective Department of Transportation systems, policies, and procedures Understands standard operations, policies and procedures of a firm, preferably within the A/E industry Performs other duties as requested Education & Experience Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology from an accredited program Minimum of 4 years of roadway design experience Professional Engineer (PE) license in respective state, or an ability to obtain PE in respective state within 6 months of start date, is required Experience using MicroStation V8i and Inroads is required; OpenRoads experience is a plus Working knowledge of the practical application of engineering principles, practices and techniques, including AASHTO guidelines Skill using Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel Georgia Department of Transportation project experience is desired Why join us?
