Job Summary We are seeking a highly experienced and visionary
Subject Matter Expert (SME)
with a strong background in executive-level healthcare leadership. The ideal candidate will bring deep knowledge of complex healthcare systems—especially within
the Veterans Health Administration (VHA)
and/or
Department of Defense (DoD) Healthcare Systems —to guide and support strategic direction, policy development, operational planning, and implementation of enterprise-level initiatives. Primary Responsibilities
Provide expert guidance and strategic direction based on in-depth knowledge of complex healthcare systems and executive-level decision-making. Advise stakeholders on best practices related to organizational transformation, health system integration, and operational efficiency within large-scale healthcare networks. Support the development and execution of strategic and tactical plans that align with agency mission and goals, particularly within the VHA or similar systems. Interpret and communicate policy, technical, and operational information to internal and external stakeholders, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on projects related to financial management, acquisition strategy, or modernization of electronic health records (EHR) systems. Leverage familiarity with the VHA’s VISN (Veteran Integrated Service Network) structure to advise on governance, resource allocation, and service delivery models. Assist in stakeholder engagement efforts and contribute to the development of communication strategies and change management initiatives. Minimum Qualifications
Former
Chief Financial Officer
experience at both
Medical Center
and
VISN
levels. Demonstrated leadership in setting direction for large, complex healthcare organizations. In-depth knowledge of VHA’s VISN structure
and operations. Extensive experience in
healthcare finance, acquisition, and logistics . Familiarity with federal financial and accounting standards. Proven track record of leading large-scale initiatives and communicating complex strategies to diverse stakeholders. Desired Qualifications
