Job Description Summary: The Supplier Development Team Leader manages a team dedicated to identifying opportunities to establish, improve, and standardize how GE Aerospace functions develop supplier partner capability. The team partners with Commodity teams to support identifying, evaluating, and qualifying suppliers to meet commodity and Product Line requirements for GE Aerospace’s global supply network. This role develops rigorous assessment criteria and oversees comprehensive vetting of supplier capacity, capability, and risk including operational, geographic, and upstream supplier factors. By building and maintaining best-in-class supplier development processes, as well as a robust supplier capability directory, the Team Leader ensures GE Aerospace is prepared to support current and future program needs while driving continuous improvement in the supplier identification process.

Roles and Responsibilities

Lead the Supplier Development Team, comprised of commodity and/or capability-aligned Supplier Development Leaders, aimed at building a comprehensive list of potential suppliers.

Establish a framework to evaluate supplier capabilities across safety, quality, delivery, and cost.

Engage with internal stakeholders across engineering, sourcing, and manufacturing to ensure vetting and onboarding processes align with business and operational requirements.

Design and build a supplier capability measurement process to capture the inventory of the capabilities and core competencies of the existing supply base.

Lead the Supplier Development Team and cross-functional stakeholders in creating and standardizing processes aligned with developing supplier capability and risk mitigation.

Define standard operating procedures for proactively mitigating issues with suppliers during high-risk events such as source changes.

Establish and maintain clear identification, evaluation, and qualification processes to ensure new suppliers align with current and future product needs.

Maintain an up-to-date view of the supplier landscape through trade shows and other venues.

Ensure supplier profiles are accurate and include capabilities, capacity, certifications, risk factors, and development opportunities.

Collaborate with commodity strategy leads to identify, prioritize, and onboard suppliers that meet the greatest strategic needs of the business.

Travel 50% or more domestically and internationally.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in sourcing, procurement, or related supply chain roles).

A minimum of 5 years of additional experience in sourcing, procurement, or related supply chain roles.

Desired Characteristics

Total of 10 years of experience in sourcing/procurement, supply chain, or manufacturing roles (with minimum of 3 years in people leadership positions).

Deep understanding of supplier qualification, assessment, and onboarding processes.

Ability to lead teams of manufacturing specialists and coordinate multiple parallel processes.

Expertise in coaching, mentoring, and developing team members.

Ability to design and implement supplier evaluation frameworks and measurement processes.

Familiarity with global supplier landscapes, particularly aerospace.

Experience building high performing teams with strong collaboration and positive culture dynamics.

Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to collaborate at all levels of the organization.

Autonomy with a high level of personal accountability to deliver results.

Strong analytical skills for interpreting data, identifying trends, and drawing actionable insights.

Strong quantitative understanding to verify tool functionality and accuracy.

Demonstrated ability to lead projects from development through execution for results.

Lean/Continuous Improvement mindset with experience leading change projects.

Experience in procurement and/or sourcing organizations is a plus; experience in supplier development is highly valued.
