Legal Recruiting Coordinator
on our Firmwide Talent Team in Washington, D.C., you will play a central role in supporting attorney hiring and onboarding across multiple pathways—including lateral hires, clerks and law students. This position offers a unique opportunity to collaborate closely with attorneys, senior leadership, and staff while contributing to high-impact recruiting initiatives. Success in this role requires strong communication skills, impeccable attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities. You’ll interact with candidates, colleagues, and stakeholders at every level of the firm, ensuring a seamless and professional experience that reflects our commitment to excellence. Lateral & Clerk Recruiting
– Partner with attorneys and search firms, coordinate outreach, schedule interviews, manage feedback, and maintain accurate recruiting records. Summer Associate Program
– Plan and execute onboarding, training, mentoring, events, work assignments, and evaluations to deliver a seamless experience. Law Student Engagement
– Lead campus recruiting efforts, coordinate interviews, manage offers and follow-up, and support firm-sponsored outreach programs. Onboarding & Integration
– Facilitate smooth transitions for laterals, summer associates, and new associates; including administrative support. Recruiting Operations
– Oversee candidate databases, track expenses and budgets, manage event timelines, and coordinate branded gifts and giveaways. Events & Administrative Support
– Organize receptions, panels, and presentations while providing reporting, document preparation, and process support for the recruiting team. What You’ll Bring Bachelor’s degree required, 2+ years of recruiting experience in a law firm or professional services setting, with demonstrated expertise in attorney recruitment. Strong familiarity with lateral, clerk, and student hiring processes and timelines. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the professionalism and confidence to engage firm leaders, attorneys, and candidates. Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a high-pressure environment with meticulous attention to detail. Team-oriented mindset with the initiative and problem-solving skills to work independently and lead processes when needed. Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with ViDesktop preferred. Strong presentation skills, client-service focus, and a proactive, hands-on attitude that builds trust and confidence across the firm. Compensation The base salary range below represents the low and high end of the salary range for this position in Washington D.C.. This range may differ based on your geographic location and cost of living considerations. At Kirkland & Ellis, we consider compensation more than just a base salary.
