Overview
The Assistant Teacher, Associates Degree Level, assists teachers with the instructional program through individual/small group tutoring and/or directing classroom activities within a computer lab. The Assistant Teacher performs duties under the general supervision of an immediate supervisor who evaluates performance through observation of work, periodic conferences, critiques, and/or records and reports. Responsibilities
Administers pre- and post-tests for identified deficient standards/skills. Grades and files papers in student folders. Assigns appropriate worksheets and learning activities based on identified student needs. Tutors individual and small groups of students. Maintains records of student progress on assigned activities and worksheets. Replenishes and reproduces instructional materials and tests. Confers with teachers and assists teachers on student performance and instructional planning. Checks and maintains computer lab and equipment/supplies. Supervises student behavior with and without teacher assistance. Schedules students for computer lab and/or individual/small group instructional sessions. Participates in school activities and special events. Participates in conferences with parents of students. Performs any other duties as assigned. District expectations

Qualifications and Skills
Language Skills: Reads and interprets documents; writes routine reports and correspondence; speaks effectively before groups. Mathematical Skills: Adds, subtracts, multiplies, and divides; computes rate, ratio, and percent; interprets bar graphs. Reasoning Ability: Applies common sense to carry out instructions; handles problems with several variables in standardized situations. Computer Skills: Microsoft Office. Physical Demands
Physical Activities: Standing, walking, sitting, handling, keyboarding, talking, and hearing. Lifting Demands: Up to 55 pounds. Reaching Activities: Both hands; overhead. Environmental Conditions: Noise intensity moderate. Note
