Salary Range:
$75,000 – $95,000 annually (DOE, Active CPA preferred) We’re looking for a
CPA Preferred: Sales Tax & Accounting Specialist
who thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on environment and brings deep expertise in multi-state sales tax compliance. This hybrid role blends tax strategy with core accounting functions—ideal for someone who enjoys both precision and problem-solving. Key Responsibilities
Sales Tax Compliance
Prepare, file, and remit multi-state sales and use tax returns accurately and on time
Maintain and audit tax exemption certificates
Monitor regulatory changes and ensure ongoing compliance across jurisdictions
Reconcile sales tax accounts and resolve discrepancies with vendors or tax authorities
Ensure proper nexus determination and taxability for products and services
Accounting Support Operations
Collaborate with the Accounting and Management teams to ensure alignment with GAAP standards.
Assist with month-end close, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
Support AP/AR functions, including invoice processing and payment tracking.
Maintain general ledger accuracy and assist with financial reporting.
Analyze and forecast short-term and long-term cash requirements.
Evaluate cash flow and obligations to ensure adequate funding.
Contribute to special projects and cross-functional initiatives as needed. What You Bring
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (strongly preferred).
5–10 years of experience in sales and use tax compliance, especially multi-state.
Deep understanding of nexus, taxability rules, and audit readiness.
Experience in B2B and e-commerce environments, including marketplaces.
Familiarity with tax automation tools (e.g., Avalara, Vertex, TaxJar).
Proficiency in Excel, Google Docs, and ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks).
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Positive attitude and professional communication across all channels.
Active CPA license is strongly preferred.
