The Global Engineering, Maintenance, & Sustainability (GEMS) Firm Engineering Team owns mechanical firm design and provides electrical, controls, and software firm design and integration support across Amazon's First- and Middle-Mile sites. Our scope encompasses; First Mile Sites (Retrofits, Expansion, Initiatives [REI] projects only): All North America Customer Fulfillment (NACF) buildings except Kariba and Storage and Distribution Center (SDC) and Middle Mile Sites (Greenfield and REI projects): Sort Centers except central hubs. We work in close partnership with upstream teams, including the GEMS concepting team, World Wide Design Engineering (WWDE), and North America Sort Center (NASC) Engineering, while directly serving our key customers: North America Ops Engineering, Operations, Reliability Maintenance & Engineering (RME), and Workplace Health & Safety (WHS). This strategic positioning allows us to intervene at critical decision points and phase-gates, enabling early identification and mitigation of potential issues before they cascade into larger challenges. This role requires up to 25% travel and availability to work from a corporate office when not traveling. Candidates should either live near or be willing to relocate within a reasonable commuting distance of the office. Relocation assistance may be provided. Key Job Responsibilities

Design and develop engineering solutions for complex material handling and storage challenges considering human/equipment interactions for the North America (NA) and Emerging Countries. Lead and coordinate concept and firm design development efforts for optimal solutions for the NA and Emerging Countries fulfillment network through equipment specification, material flow, process design, ergonomics, associate experience, operational considerations and site layout. Work with various teams (PMO, Simulation, ACES, Operations, Finance, Ops Eng) to identify network problem statements and execute pilot projects that can be made network standards. Lead the firm engineering process for various design reviews. Ensure the solution being developed meets or exceeds all Amazon standards. Write or review design / functional specifications, design verification plans and test procedures for MHE equipment. Drive projects to closure; ensure that systems deployed, maintained, and meet regulatory requirements for certification. Project Management

Simultaneously manage multiple projects and tasks while effectively influencing, negotiating, and communicating with internal and external business partners, contractors and vendors. Work with procurement and PMO to obtain initial ROM (Rough Order of Magnitude) pricing. Use this information along with other cost information to develop a CAR (Capital Asset Request) form. Ensure the funding for projects is effectively spent while ensuring frugality is observed. Must remain as the primary POC for all design, schedule, cost and safety related questions throughout the life cycle of the project. Work effectively with operations and Ops Eng to address any schedule changes during execution. Must-haves For This Position

Experience with complex automated material handling equipment, packaging technologies, and systems including robotics and high-speed manufacturing. Experience in Design/Innovation, research & development, manufacturing, process, industrial engineering, or related work. Experience in management of engineering design projects. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (any discipline), Operations, or a related field and at least 3 years of progressively responsible experience in the specialty. Experience with automated material handling equipment, packaging technologies, and systems including robotics and high-speed manufacturing. Experience with process design based on Lean Principles. Experience in Capital project management. Experience with concepts like system architecture, optimization, system dynamics, system analysis, statistical analysis, reliability analysis, and decision making. Experience using business/technical software like MS Excel, MS Project, and CAD software. Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in Engineering (any discipline) + 3 years relevant experience.
