As a Principal Site Reliability Engineering Manager, you will lead a team of SREs in the Azure Reliability team and contribute directly to lifting the overall platform reliability and security by working horizontally across Azure. Responsibilities
Understanding of distributed systems design, interactions between cloud technology layers and components, basic dependencies at scale, and the code that defines infrastructures. Deliver success through empowerment and accountability by modeling, coaching, and caring. Share and define insights, best practices, and standards that can be applied to improve system, platform, and/or product development and operations across the business. Expand end-to-end technical expertise in architecture, code, features, operations, and comprehensive use scenarios of products to drive continuous improvements. Contribute to product fundamentals and architecture, share knowledge, and code, always looking for ways to make what we build useful to multiple teams and products. Demonstrate end-to-end expertise in distributed systems design, interactions between cloud technology layers. Support ongoing engagements with product engineering teams by participating in test maturity reviews, static analysis reviews, meetings, on-call rotations, and incident responses throughout product development and operations cycles. Provide deep business and technical expertise as required to resolve major incidents. Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications: 11+ years technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, or systems administration, or equivalent education and experience. 5+ years of experience starting and coordinating complex projects across multiple teams. 7+ years people management experience. Other Qualifications: Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements. Preferred/Additional Qualifications: 10+ years technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, or systems administration, or similar. 10+ years experience using object-oriented programming languages such as C#, Java, Python, or similar. Experience working on large and unfamiliar codebases (millions of lines of code). Awareness of, and ability to reason about, modern distributed software design patterns and cloud systems architecture. Microsoft is an equal opportunity employer.
