Overview
Cadrex is searching for a tactical & technical Supplier Quality Engineer who will play a key role in evaluating, developing, and maintaining relationships with our suppliers to ensure the delivery of high-quality components and materials. Your expertise in supplier quality management, process improvement, and engineering principles will contribute to the success of our manufacturing processes and product quality. By collaborating with cross-functional teams and suppliers, you will drive a culture of excellence and continuous improvement within our quality organization and support the critical role of best-in-class suppliers.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with the Procurement team to assist in qualifying new suppliers based on quality, engineering, core capabilities, and capacity.
Lead supplier assessments and audits to evaluate their manufacturing processes, quality systems, and capabilities.
Develop and implement supplier development plans to enhance supplier performance, quality, and delivery.
Use statistical quality control, lean manufacturing, and Six Sigma tools to improve Cadrex’s competitive advantage.
Work closely with suppliers to address quality issues, process deviations, and non-conformances.
Provide technical expertise and guidance to suppliers for process improvement, quality control, and eliminating bottlenecks.
Collaborate with suppliers to implement corrective and preventive actions to address quality issues and improve delivery performance.
Monitor supplier performance metrics, analyze data, and identify areas for improvement.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the supplier base to enhance product quality and reliability.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of supplier development efforts with company goals.
Maintain accurate records and documentation related to supplier development activities.
Requirements Preferred Qualifications
3+ years of experience as a Supplier Development Engineer, Supplier Quality Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Quality Engineer or similar role within a manufacturing environment.
Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, quality control, and supplier management.
Knowledge of quality management systems (ISO-9001, AS-9100 D, ISO-13485, ITAR Six Sigma, Lean) and other pertinent methodologies.
Experience in conducting supplier assessments, audits, and implementing corrective actions, using the 8D, A3, 5 WHY concepts.
Proficiency in statistical analysis, data interpretation, and root cause analysis.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with suppliers and internal teams.
Ability to travel for supplier visits, assessments, and audits as required.
Problem-solving mindset and ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Strong project management skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
US citizen to have the ability to support and work within any ITAR controlled facility.
Ability to obtain and maintain a valid US passport and international visas.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Quality Management, or related mechanical engineering field.
Or 8+ years’ experience of relevant proven experience in supplier or quality related field.
Certified Quality Engineer, Certified Quality Manager or other equivalent certifications.
Lead Auditor certifications.
This is a non-sponsorship position within the company.
Location
Hybrid or, preference for Chicago, Minneapolis, Springfield, Philadelphia, Hartford & specific APAC metro areas. Prefer within 1.5 hours or less of a major international airport.
Schedule
Mon-Fri
Ability to travel up to 50% of the time. International travel is required to support sites with international suppliers.
Work Environment
Exposure to moving mechanical parts and vibration. Occasional risk of electrical shock. Noise levels range from moderate to occasionally loud.
