Orion Solutions Group is searching for a Cargo Claims Manager to join a leading vehicle logistics company specializing in automotive transportation. This role leads the Cargo Claims Department, ensuring accurate and timely processing of claims, while developing settlement strategies, managing operations, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to reduce claim exposure, enhance customer satisfaction, and support risk mitigation.
Responsibilities
Lead and oversee daily operations and staff within the Cargo Claims Department. Partner with the Director on staffing, performance management, and departmental strategy. Train, mentor, and evaluate claims personnel to improve development, effectiveness, and work product quality. Identify performance issues and recommend appropriate corrective actions. Review cargo claims documentation (reports, photos, videos, statements) to ensure accuracy and claim validation. Participate in incident reviews and support investigations as required. Coordinate with third-party carriers, insurers, and attorneys on claims resolution and litigation. Maintain accurate legal and claims files in compliance with documentation standards. Generate, analyze, and distribute critical reports (e.g., aging, recovery, denial turnover, and major damage reports). Track major damages and ensure proper procedures are followed for OEM accounts. Provide timely claim status updates and settlement progress to customers and internal leadership. Negotiate and settle claims within defined authority levels. Drive process improvements and implement best practices to optimize claim handling and outcomes. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree preferred, or 5+ years of relevant claims/litigation experience. Minimum 3 years in cargo claims handling and litigation. Minimum 1 year of supervisory experience, ideally in transportation or logistics. Proficient in web-based claims systems (OVISS, ORIGAMI) and MS Office Suite. Strong investigative, analytical, and reporting skills. Experience in process improvement and driving change. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Adaptable, professional, and effective under pressure with sound judgment. Skilled in building strong relationships with internal and external partners. Seniority level
