Overview
Office Coordinator, College of Arts & Sciences, Biology — Boston University. The role acts as the primary and first point of contact for visitors to the Biology Department's main administrative office and provides essential administrative support for the department's teaching and research operations. Responsibilities
Act as primary contact point for visitors, incoming phone calls, emails, website submissions, and students and faculty to the Biology Department main office. Filter and disseminate materials and information in a timely, professional manner to the appropriate destination. Prepare and maintain department information lists for interdepartmental use; ensure smooth operation of the front desk. Provide administrative support for the Biology Department's large teaching and research operations, particularly the undergraduate program; address inquiries or route them to appropriate staff, faculty, or central units. Assist visitors with inquiries and support departmental events, deliveries, and scheduling (e.g., room reservations). Maintain departmental databases and assist with ordering supplies; handle mail sorting and basic operations. Supervise Work-Study students and ensure operational procedures and etiquette are followed; disseminate accurate information to department stakeholders. Qualifications
Associates Degree required; 1–3 years of relevant work experience. Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills; ability to work independently and prioritize tasks with tact and discretion. Ability to follow up until issues are resolved across broad and varying activities. Additional Information
