Senior Scientist, Process Development – Tangential Flow Filtration (TFF)
Currently partnering with a global CDMO serving pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients. It delivers integrated, end-to-end solutions spanning from early-stage development to commercial supply. Supported by a network of fully-integrated cGMP facilities across Europe and North America, they excel in the development and manufacture of APIs, drug products, and lipid excipients. Its expertise covers diverse technology platforms including Peptides, Oligonucleotides, Lipids & LNPs, Injectables, Highly Potent & Oncology, and Small Molecules. They are seeking a process chemist with expertise in tangential flow filtration (TFF) to support the design, optimization, and implementation of robust chemical processes from laboratory development through scale-up. This role plays a key part in ensuring that processes meet performance, cost, quality, safety, and regulatory expectations while advancing projects toward commercial readiness. Key Responsibilities
Apply hands-on knowledge of tangential flow and ultrafiltration systems, including setup, troubleshooting, and optimization at lab and pilot scale. Evaluate and define critical operating parameters for scalable TFF processes, ensuring smooth transition from small- to large-scale operations. Partner with cross-functional teams to provide technical support for both laboratory development and plant manufacturing activities. Independently design, plan, and execute experiments to develop cost-effective and compliant processes. Contribute to process familiarization, optimization, and validation activities to meet project deliverables. Prepare and deliver technical reports, presentations, and documentation to summarize experimental findings and support project decisions. Ensure adherence to internal SOPs, GDP practices, and cGMP regulations in all aspects of development and scale-up. Provide leadership and mentorship to project teams engaged in process development, transfer, or technology implementation. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance process robustness, yield, and efficiency while maintaining QSHE standards. Qualifications
Degree in Chemistry or related discipline with a minimum of 5 years of relevant industry experience in TFF/ultrafiltration. TFF experience is required. Strong background in peptide synthesis and purification is highly preferred. Familiarity with pharmaceutical regulatory frameworks including cGMP, GDP, FDA guidelines, and health/safety regulations (OSHA, EPA, PSM). Demonstrated hands-on laboratory experience with organic chemistry processes. Knowledge of plant-scale operations, scale-up principles, and design considerations for manufacturing facilities. Ability to work effectively in team-oriented environments while also managing independent technical deliverables. This will be an on-site position in Boulder, Colorado; relocation support provided.
