The Birthday Party Host - Conservatory is a Part-Time Position. We offer competitive compensation, PTO and an employee discount for part-time employees. Job Purpose

The Birthday Party Host responsibilities are to facilitate, supervise and organize Conservatory birthday party attendees in a fun and safe manner. Responsibilities

Facilitates and supervises children's birthday parties at the Oak Park Conservatory, to ensure guests are actively engaged, safe, and having fun. Redirect participant behavior when necessary, enforce park district rules, and make sound decisions in order to secure the safety and well-being of all participants, staff, facilities, and equipment. Maintains inventory and organization of party supplies and submit needs to supervisor in a timely manner. Responsible for the setup and cleanup for birthday party events. Greet host and guests, provide excellent customer service. Assist party participants in a fun and safe manner throughout the party. Display an attitude of fun and enthusiasm throughout the event. Additional Functions

Assist in the development of activities and crafts during the birthday party. Maintain a complete understanding of the Park District emergency action plan. Maintain knowledge of and follow all Federal, State, Local and Park District safety regulations. Communicate any program deviations to immediate supervisor. Must be available on weekend days as scheduled. Attend staff meetings as requested. Perform other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Work Experience Required

Must be at least 16 years of age or have a work permit if 15 years of age. Certification in advanced CPR, First Aid and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) within 1 month of employment. Ability to work with and instruct children. Ability to multi-task and manage workload. Customer service focus. Oral and written communication skills. Organization and interpersonal skills. Planning and problem solving skills. Ability to respond to problems or stressful situations with good judgment and accuracy. Ability to follow directions and work under supervision of the birthday party leader. Ability to convey a favorable Park District image with the media, partner organizations, and the public. Ability to work effectively with the entire District staff and maintain positive working relationships with other employees. Establishes and maintains the highest standards of ethical conduct. Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Considerations

Frequently – standing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crawling, running, and walking. Strength – ability to move and lift medium to heavy weight (up to 50 lbs). Ability to talk, hear, and see to perform duties; operate office equipment including computers, printers, copiers, and telephones. Activities are performed indoors and outdoors and may be subjected to inclement weather. Ability to present ideas and recommendations clearly, and to understand and follow verbal or written instructions. Ability to use independent judgment and respond to unexpected events or demands. Hours

The position may average between 4 and 10 hours per week and requires working select times on Saturdays and Sundays.
