Oversees daily operations of Environmental Services to ensure a clean, safe, and high-quality environment for patients, staff, and visitors, including building perimeter grounds, waste disposal, linen distribution, pest control, meeting room setups, and furniture moves. Monitors departmental productivity and structures staff assignments to ensure optimal utilization of human and material resources, while maintaining service quality and efficiency. Identifies opportunities for operational improvement, proactively implements changes, and ensures continuous performance enhancement across all functional areas. Supervises administrative and operational functions, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and standards while maximizing resource efficiency. Assists in personnel management, including hiring, training, evaluating, motivating, disciplining, and terminating staff; collaborates with the Senior Manager on performance reviews and compensation decisions. Implements and enforces policies and procedures aligned with regulatory bodies such as the Joint Commission, IDPH, OSHA, and EPA, ensuring successful inspection outcomes. Coordinates setup and breakdown of event spaces, including configuring tables, chairs, and room layouts to support hospital meetings and functions. Participates in committee meetings (Infection Control, Quality Assurance, Environment of Care) to ensure environmental standards are upheld and proper chemical management procedures are followed. Maintains and improves cross-departmental relationships, working with clinical and non-clinical teams to enhance or expand services and align departmental goals with hospital-wide objectives. Manages vendor relationships and oversees contracts for services like laundry, landscaping, and pressure washing; oversees linen program operations, adjusts par levels as needed, and ensures accurate financial processing of invoices. Qualifications
Education: Associate degree in related field or equivalent years of experience in the field. Related Work Experience: Three (3) - five (5) years of experience in Healthcare Environmental Services supervision preferred. Specialized Knowledge and Skills: Planning, organizing, directing, and managing personnel; strong organizational and leadership capabilities; excellent English communication; interpersonal effectiveness; sound decision-making; ability to motivate and work well with others; ability to meet physical requirements of lifting, bending, walking, standing, and other job-related tasks.
