Position: Farm Manager The Farm Manager is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Farm, ensuring a healthy, well-maintained and financially successful environment. This role involves supervising a team of farm staff, ensuring the safety and functionality of the farms, and contributing to an exceptional guest experience. Responsibilities

Supervise and lead a team of farm staff, assigning tasks and managing work schedules. Provide training, guidance, and mentorship to ensure the team’s professional development. Provide ongoing training to staff on new equipment, technologies, and safety procedures. Conduct performance evaluations and address any performance issues in a timely manner. Market Gardening – Propagation, Production & Harvest: greenhouse seeding and hardening off; field prep and transplanting; direct seeding with precision tools; row cover management; succession planting; weed and pest control; harvest planning and execution for quality and efficiency. Soil Health & Fertility: understanding soil biology, nutrient cycling, fertilizer calculations, composting, biological activity, and bed amendments. Irrigation Systems: design, installation, and maintenance of drip lines, overhead systems, timers, pressure regulation, troubleshooting, etc. Landscaping: design, installation, and care of functional and aesthetic landscape areas on the farm (edible and ornamental). Fencing: planning and constructing fences for gardens, livestock, and public areas—balancing functionality, longevity, and appearance. Livestock – Health, Breeding & Daily Care: hands-on care of goats, pigs, chickens, etc., including feeding systems, rotational grazing, recordkeeping, breeding programs, farrowing/kidding, vet care, and pasture management. Public-Facing Communication: comfortable leading farm tours, interacting with guests, participating in media opportunities, and serving as a public ambassador for the farm. Tractor Operation: experience with four-wheel tractors (e.g., Kubota) and two-wheel tractors (e.g., BCS), including mowing, tillage, and hauling. Machinery Maintenance: preventative maintenance and repair of small engines, tractors, walk-behind tools, pumps, and other farm equipment. Basic Construction Skills: working with wood, hardware, and tools for small structures, greenhouses, cold frames, and general farm infrastructure. Team Management & Leadership Style: experience managing people, fostering a positive work culture, giving feedback, and delegating responsibilities effectively. Computer & Tech Skills: comfortable with spreadsheets, basic farm management software, shared drives, recordkeeping, and light graphic/media work. Farm Finances: budgeting, expense tracking, yield forecasting, project costing, and understanding financial impacts of farm decisions. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to addressing maintenance issues. Familiarity with energy-efficient practices and sustainability initiatives. Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, and respond to emergencies. Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture or a related field (preferred). Several years of experience with at least 2–3 years in a supervisory role. Strong technical knowledge of all areas of farming. Physical Requirements

Must be able to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 80 pounds. Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening, and visual acuity. Must be able to stand or walk for extended periods (8–12 hours). Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. Must be able to work in environments with extreme heat or cold.
