Responsibilities
Interacts with both hardware and software engineering team members to design, develop, and assure correct operation of hyphenated MS systems. Cooperates with Marketing and Field chemists to verify system features support application development. Develops presentations for projects and management review as requested. May contribute technical and operational information to Field Technical Support training. Working with the Evaluation Team Leader the candidate will evaluate GC/MS and LC/MS system operation relative to requirements outlined in System Test plans. Qualifications
Education: Graduate Studies in Physics, Chemistry, Engineering, or related field. Qualifications: Hands-on experience in running, troubleshooting, and servicing mass spectrometry instrumentation. Good understanding of the basic engineering of a mass spectrometer, mechanical, vacuum, electrical, and their challenges, interactions, and constraints. Experience designing, assembling, and testing mass spectrometer components. Experience using script languages (Python, Lua, Groovy) to develop and run MS experiments is a plus. Experience with product development process and product life cycle is a plus. Functional technical knowledge and experience in the following areas are a plus:
Quadrupole mass spectrometry Ion mobility spectrometry LC and GC Chromatography Ion source technologies including Heated Electrospray, direct ionization, and electron impact ionization
Strong communication skills, work and excel with daily interactions with a small team of scientists and engineers, both local, and across the globe. Strongly self-organized and self-motivated. Strong analytical skills, innovative and clear thinking. Other Skills and Abilities: Basic knowledge of electronics, using voltmeters and oscilloscopes are desired. Ability and willingness to travel as some travel, including international travel, may be required.
