Assists the Head Coach with instructing players in the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport Organizes and directs individual and small group practice activities/exercises as directed by the head coach Assesses players' skills, monitors players during competition and practice, and keeps the head coach informed of athletic performance Reports student concerns to the head coach Assists with determining game strategy Assists the Head Coach with supervising athletes during practices and competition Follows established procedures in the event of an athlete's injury Models good sportsmanship in behavior, maintains appropriate conduct toward players, officials, and spectators Maintains the equipment room in an orderly condition and assumes responsibility for its security Distributes equipment, supplies, and uniforms to students as directed by the head coach Assists the head coach with end-of-season awards Participates in special activities, including parent’s nights, banquets, award nights, and pep assemblies Performs support tasks such as distributing and maintaining eligibility forms, emergency data cards, and other related records May drive students to away games; ensure student transportation procedures are followed Attends staff development meetings, clinics, and other professional activities to improve coaching performance Maintains required coaching certifications All other duties as assigned by the supervisor or administrator Qualifications
Education High School Experience Some experience as an assistant coach at the high school or college level is preferred, or any satisfactory combination of education, experience, and training that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties listed. Licenses, Certifications, and Clearances Valid California Driver's License Valid CPR, TB, and First Aid Certifications Ministry Safe Clearance NFHS Compliance Certifications Personal Characteristics Exhibits the highest level of Christian integrity; life reflects Christ-like morals, behavior, attitude, and leadership. Integrates faith and prayer in the performance of job duties. Supports the Orange Lutheran Statement of Faith. Physical Requirements The employee is frequently required to stand for extended periods, speak clearly, hear accurately, and move about the campus, gymnasium, or athletic field. May be required to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds; may bend, stoop, sit on the floor, climb stairs, kneel, or twist. Specific vision abilities include near and far vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Work Environment The typical work occurs in both climate-controlled indoor school environments and on outdoor athletic fields with variable conditions. Noise level is moderate but may be loud at times.
