Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment for students with diverse needs. This role involves working closely with students who may have disabilities, autism, or other developmental challenges, and requires a comprehensive understanding of individualized education plans (IEPs) and tailored teaching methodologies. Responsibilities
Be responsible for ensuring an educational, caring, and safe environment for the children Develop and implement age & developmentally appropriate curriculum Familiarity with classroom health, safety, and sanitation guidelines, with the ability to strictly follow them. Conduct regular assessments aligned with IFSP goals, utilizing the DAYC-2, and prepare comprehensive assessment reports. Report challenges, successes, and competencies of each student to the Director or to parents on a regular basis Coordinating with Occupational and Speech Therapists to address the child''s needs Planning activities in collaboration with teaching assistants and teacher aides Supervise assistant teachers in interactions with children and implementation of activities Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, and able to multi-task and manage multiple situations effectively Skills
Strong classroom management skills to create a structured learning environment. Experience in curriculum development tailored for special education settings. Knowledge of deaf education practices is a plus. Familiarity with working with individuals on the autism spectrum and those with developmental disabilities. Proficiency in early childhood education principles and practices. Ability to effectively plan lessons that incorporate behavioral health strategies. Excellent communication skills for interacting with students, parents, and colleagues. Experience in childcare or daycare settings is beneficial. Understanding of childhood development theories and practices. Background in Montessori methods or private school experience is advantageous. Competence in behavioral management techniques to support student behavior positively.
