Sunday, September 21 @ 10:00 PM Responsibilities

Patrol the City in radio-equipped car or on foot. Answer calls for the protection of life and property, and the enforcement of city, county, and state laws. Conduct both preliminary and follow-up investigations of disturbances, prowlers, burglaries, thefts, hold-ups, vehicle accidents, death, and other criminal incidents. Patrol the City and respond to calls related to traffic incidents and any other required emergencies. Observe, monitor, and control routine and unusual traffic conditions. Assist and advise motorists and enforce traffic safety laws. Make arrests as necessary. Interview victims, complainants, and witnesses. Interrogate suspects; gather and preserve evidence. Qualifications & Ideal Candidate

Desire and commitment to public service; sincere interest in a career in law enforcement. Maintain high standards of personal conduct: safety attention, self-control, integrity, performance under stress, interpersonal and customer service skills, flexibility, and ability to learn. Proven track record of excellent decision-making and use of judgement. Successful candidates must pass a vigorous background check and pre-hire screening. High School diploma or G.E.D.; valid California driver’s license; U.S. citizen or eligible for citizenship; AA or BA/BS desired. Testing & Requirements

PELLET B Exam: minimum passing score of 42 (entry level). Physical Agility Exam: minimum passing score of 320; 1.5 mile run completed in 14 minutes maximum. A list of testing sites and dates is available at the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) testing sites. Salary & Benefits

Salary during Trainee period: $5,894/month. Salary after promotion to Police Officer Step 1: $8,701/month. Benefits include health, dental, leave, retirement, life insurance, disability, and other legally required benefits. Academy & Career Path

Upon selection, employee will undergo a full background check, psychological testing, and medical testing. Must commit to attending a 20-week program with Santa Rosa Junior College Public Safety Training Center. Academy schedule: Monday – Friday with some nights and weekends. The next academy is January 5 – May 22, 2026. Graduation leads to promotion to Field Training Officer program and Police Officer (probationary) with full benefits. If the academy is not completed or POST certificate is not obtained, employment may be terminated. Application Instructions
