We are seeking a
Public Policy Director
to join our team at
The Arc Minnesota . If you are passionate about social justice and advancing Disability Justice, this could be the role for you! The Arc Minnesota promotes and protects the human rights of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This position is responsible for leadership of organization-wide public policy and systems change efforts, including achieving state and federal public policy goals, directing public policy and systems change proposals, and representing the organization in public events and strategic coalitions. Responsibilities:
Achieve our state and federal public policy, legislative advocacy, systems change, and voter engagement goals in partnership with The Arc Minnesota staff, members, self-advocates, and the broader disability community; Directly engage people who have lived experience in creating policy and systems change proposals, as well as in grassroots advocacy efforts; Represent The Arc Minnesota in public events, strategic coalitions, and meetings with elected officials, agency staff, the media, partner organizations, and external stakeholders; Demonstrate and model The Arc Minnesota's values of Human and Civil Rights, Self-Advocacy and Self-Direction, Equity and Belonging, and Disability and Racial Justice. Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree required; advanced degree in public affairs, public policy or applicable work experience preferred; At least five years' experience in government relations, legislative affairs, and/or grassroots advocacy; Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Knowledge of volunteer engagement and management, marketing and communications planning, and social media platforms.
