Sr Scientist – Packaging Development This position is a technical role, responsible for commercializing Costco specific projects across the Canada portfolio. This candidate should demonstrate packaging leadership and have a proven record of executing work plans and driving for results in a variety of settings. This includes analyzing data, drawing conclusions, documenting, and communicating results. Proven communication, teamwork, and people development skills are essential in this role, which operates in a cross-functional environment. The candidate will report functionally to R&D packaging manager and to the Pod lead. The Pod team will determine the priorities and tasks required to commercialize the initiatives. Responsibilities

Translate the consumer/business need into products and packages that can be commercialized in a fast-paced test market environment. Work closely with Pod team to identify near and long-term opportunities. Execute mid/low complexity Costco projects in the near term, that includes repacking and alternate packages that are within capability of existing manufacturing lines. Build long-term pipeline that offers Costco a unique package/product that unlocks NSV and/or cost efficiencies. Become subject matter expert for Costco requirements, distribution, and in-store displays and lab testing requirements. Understand the business need, design, and implement tests, analyze data, draw conclusions, document, communicate results, and commercialize products. Proven communication and teamwork skills are critical in this role, which operates in a multifaceted and cross-functional environment. The candidate must also have a technical background and be able to apply prior learning or scientific principles to new situations. Manage multiple assignments/tasks concurrently and demonstrate the ability to work autonomously, a majority of the time. Exhibiting a collaborative attitude and applying innovative solutions are a must. Key Components of the Role

Work with cross-functional teams, acting as packaging lead to drive execution across multiple projects from different product categories. Manage multiple assignments/projects concurrently and possess the ability to prioritize between a variety of business initiatives. Build and coordinate relationships with suppliers and packaging partners to drive projects forward. Complete packaging testing, qualification, and commercialization while working closely with cross-functional team members in laboratory and production environments. Translate research findings into relevant business opportunities and communicate to cross-functional teams. Adapt and apply scientific principles to new situations/products. Specification creation and updating, with attention to detail. Requirements

BS/MS in Packaging, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field. 3-6 years of experience in Packaging Development. Proven experience in Packaging Development and commercialization (which can include internships or co-ops). Desirable attributes – Familiarity with Canada/Mount Royal business, familiarity with Meals and Sauces products and network. Strong understanding of key subject matter in areas such as packaging materials, pkg equipment/materials interaction, and packaging laboratory test methods. Excellent communication, influencing, and problem-solving skills. Ability to lead, coach, and motivate others. Manage multiple assignments/tasks concurrently with the ability to prioritize work. Candidate is willing to work from the office during core-days (T-TH). Office location can be Glenview-IL or Montreal - Canada. Ability to travel to Canada and willingness to travel up to 30%. Compensation and Benefits

New Hire Base Salary Range: $88,000.00 - $110,000.00. Bonus: This position is eligible for a performance-based bonus as provided by the plan terms and governing documents.
