MassBay invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Cybersecurity. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a passion for teaching and promoting success among a diverse student population. Faculty members are responsible for developing educational and evaluation materials consistent with National Center of Academic Excellence (NCAE) guidelines and with the philosophy and framework of the program, MassBay Community College, and the Computer Science program in accordance with the evolving needs of the STEM division. The successful candidate will offer hands-on laboratory courses using current technologies, software, and tools. Priority topics include cybersecurity fundamentals, network security, and application security. Knowledge of incident response and forensics, penetration testing, security operations, emerging technologies and trends, and information security management is preferred. Teaching, advising, and mentoring are expected to support students’ growth in technical interviewing, writing, and project management within the Cybersecurity domain. The candidate will help the Cybersecurity program provide a foundational generalist curriculum to support students’ career pathways, further education, and continuing professional learning. The ideal applicant will understand the role of community colleges in workforce development and in facilitating transfer pathways to four-year institutions, ensuring student success. Collaboration and professional development are emphasized. The successful candidate will help develop relevant courses and teaching strategies for diverse learners and support recruitment and retention. The Cybersecurity faculty member is responsible for maintaining required certifications to fulfill the needs of this position. Teaching Environment:

Courses may be held in person at the Wellesley campus, in hybrid formats with in-person lab sessions, or online. The candidate must be able to teach on campus as most classes are in-person or hybrid. The opportunity exists to shape the curriculum and engage in recruitment of underrepresented students and community-based outreach through the College’s Cyber Range. Key Responsibilities and Duties: Teach a full-time schedule of Cybersecurity courses (15 credit hours per semester) based on need; courses may include items listed in the academic catalog. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Collaborate with a diverse student body, faculty, and staff. Prepare course syllabi and develop curricula that meet course and program requirements and student learning outcomes. Advise students with expertise in mentoring minoritized students. Post and maintain a minimum of four office hours per week. Participate in program and curriculum development, assessment, accreditation, and related activities. Collaborate on selecting and creating instructional materials, lab experiences, simulations, and demonstrations using varied teaching methods. Submit midterm and final grade reports, attendance records, early alerts, and other reports by required due dates. Serve on College committees and attend program, division, and committee meetings. Assist in recruiting qualified adjunct faculty as needed. Engage in professional development to maintain teaching excellence. Carry out other duties as assigned by the Dean consistent with the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Commitment to Equity: Foster culturally responsive practices and inclusive perspectives. Support MassBay’s Equity Agenda and initiatives to close equity gaps in student outcomes. Collaborate with faculty, staff, and students on strategic initiatives related to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Contribute to policy discussions with a critical lens toward DEI. Engage with the Office of Diversity on issues related to underserved student success and inclusive practice. Discuss best practices within the discipline related to equity and inclusion. Note: A supervisor may assign other duties as required to meet the College’s mission. All employees are expected to work collegially in a diverse community. Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or Computer Science from an accredited university. Post-secondary teaching experience. Relevant industry experience in Cybersecurity or Information Technology with a focus on Cybersecurity. Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree in Cybersecurity or Information Technology from an accredited university. Current cybersecurity certifications (e.g., CISSP, CompTIA Security+, CCNA) or a commitment to pursuing these. Ability to integrate CompTIA training into instruction. Commitment to affirmative action and workforce diversity; experience in diverse environments and with underserved or minoritized students. Community college teaching experience and at least two years of teaching credit-bearing courses or equivalent industry training. Versatility in teaching a range of courses in CS, Cybersecurity, or IT; experience with curricular planning, assessment, and inclusive pedagogy. Experience with distance learning or alternate instructional delivery; experience with grants; interest in regional workforce development; outreach with K-12 schools. Additional Information: Salary Range:

$70,000–$80,000, in accordance with education and experience under the collective bargaining agreement.
