The Activity Specialist (Photography/Videography) teaches and facilitates a youth-centered class tailored to their specific expertise. Candidates with the following expertise are encouraged to apply: Reports To:

8 - 10 hours / week; Non Exempt, September - June Schedule:
Monday - Friday, 2 pm - 6 pm Salary:
$19 / HR - $25 Major Duties: Prepare and develop age, and skill-appropriate curriculum, lesson plans, activities, and special projects that fuse the arts and academic competencies to be reviewed by supervisors before being taught. Teach students the fundamentals of photography and filmmaking, including camera operation, video editing, and techniques. Develop and/or follow a sequenced Curriculum based on students’ interest. Curriculum should promote creativity, self-expression, opportunity for mastery, and emotional and professional growth. Integrate lessons enriched with literacy, history and other related academic subjects when applicable. Provide basic hands-on knowledge of camera and operation, both video and photography. Ensure students will be prepared and able to illustrate what they learned in a culminating event. Attend all staff meetings and staff development trainings sessions, as specified. Foster a youth development, strength’s based environment, fostering a sense of belonging, safety, and community to participants. Responsible for the setup, operation and clean-up of activities and the organization, inventory and storing of relevant supplies and equipment. Guide program participants in examining choices, following directions and becoming involved in program activities. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Must be at least 18 years old. High School Diploma or GED required. Experience and/or training relevant to the position required. Candidates with some college, experience with adolescents and teaching/coaching youth are encouraged to apply. Flexibility, creativity, and enthusiasm for young people Excellent planning, organization and time management skills Ability to engage youth, while setting structure and limits in a group setting. Energetic, motivated self-starter and a team player Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must have a commitment to work from a strength-based, youth and family development and trauma-informed perspective.
