Overview

Department Chair for the School of Business, Logistics, and Supply Chain at Ivy Tech Community College. This role oversees two or more programs, campuses or academic initiatives and manages all elements of designated academic programs including enrollment management, program administration, instructional quality, and human resource management. The position supports instructional quality across delivery methods, provides timely feedback on learning outcomes, engages students outside of class, supports institutional service, and contributes to student retention and completion initiatives in alignment with the College’s mission and strategic plan.

Responsibilities INSTRUCTION: Deliver classes using pedagogy and technology that best support student learning, adhere to course objectives and program learning outcomes, maintain records, ensure a safe classroom environment, facilitate student achievement of outcomes, and use the Learning Management System (e.g., Blackboard) for teaching, learning, assessment and communication.

RETENTION AND STUDENT SUCCESS: Provide academic coaching and monitoring to advisees, monitor student performance, maintain hours of engagement, promote recruitment, retention, and completion of programs.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: Engage in professional development, participate in scholarly activities, and stay current with pedagogy and technology.

COMMUNITY RELATIONS AND BUSINESS OUTREACH: Participate in community service and develop industry contacts to advance college relationships.

INSTITUTIONAL SUPPORT: Provide support on committees and projects related to accreditation and grants; engage with Ivy Tech Foundations; attend commencements; participate in college meetings; participate in career services and alumni activities; adhere to policies.

ENROLLMENT MANAGEMENT: Review program data, lead actions to improve retention, develop internships and real-work experiences, oversee dual credit and course scheduling considerations.

PROGRAM ADMINISTRATION: Complete annual Program Review; coordinate with employers and committees to ensure market-relevant curriculum; manage office hours and coordinate advisory committees; oversee equipment and lab supplies as applicable.

HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT: Coordinate recruitment, evaluation, and development of full-time and adjunct faculty with Human Resources and leadership; address faculty, staff, and student issues.

Minimum Qualifications

Strong working knowledge of current technologies in instruction; faculty credentials as outlined in ASOM 7.1. Eligible Areas of Instruction: Business Administration. Credential standards and routes for qualification include:

1) Earned master’s degree or higher in business administration, business education, public administration, management, marketing, or related field; or

2) Earned related or out-of-field master’s degree with 18 post-secondary semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) beyond introductory level in business administration, public administration, management, marketing, or related field; or

3) Earned related or out-of-field master’s degree with documentation in two or more of: in-field certification, three years of in-field professional employment, research/publication, additional coursework beyond bachelor’s degree (15 semester/22 quarter hours), or equivalent subject matter coursework/CEUs.

4) Earned bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, management, marketing, or related field with documentation in two or more of: professional certification, three years of in-field professional employment, demonstrated teaching excellence, research/publication, or additional coursework (18 semester hours).

The above list is not exhaustive. Other duties may be assigned.

Salary

The minimum salary for the role at the Instructor (F-2) rank is $43,000 for a nine-month contract. Faculty rank and salary are determined by education and experience. Summer contracts depend on enrollment. Department Chair positions include a Chair Allowance. This is an exempt position.
